CENA NEWS: ABC Houston follows up on Cena meeting boy with rare genetic disorder at Night of Champions

Last week, the Houston ABC affiliate reported on a wrestling fan buying front row tickets to Night of Champions for an an eight-year-old boy battling a genetic disorder.

Also included was a meet & greet with top star John Cena, who inspired eight-year-old Mason through a reported 62 surgeries to address Pfeiffer Syndrome, which is a "genetic disorder that keeps the skull from growing."

The ABC affiliate followed up on their initial report, noting Monday that Mason was able to meet Cena before the show.

Also during the show, Cena also included Mason in his pre-match routine and post-match victory celebration after winning the U.S. Title from Seth Rollins.

"For a child that gets told that they are scary or are not accepted for being different, it saves their life. And it makes things so much better and I can't thank them enough for that," said Mason's mother.

Caldwell's Viewpoint: I had a good vantage point on how everything unfolded live. Kudos to Cena for making a lifetime memory for the boy. Sitting in the lower 100 level, I was directly above the front-row seats where Mason and his family were located. Toyota Center's security had a rough night allowing a fan to crash the ring earlier, but in this instance they were helpful in getting Mason to the guardrail to be in position for Cena before and after the match. On a funny note, Mason almost missed the end of the match. In the middle of the match, Mason went from pacing the floor seats supporting Cena to making it pretty obvious that he needed to use the facilities. You could almost see the conversation unfold of "you might miss the end of the match." But, Mason made it back just in-time for the finish. Cena then greeted Mason at the guardrail after the win. It was a touching moment within the show with knowledge of the ABC story before the PPV.
