9/28 Update: A hearing has been set for October 7 to determine if Jimmy Snuka's legal proceedings will go straight to trial, bypassing a preliminary hearing.

According to wrestling author Irv Muchnick, Judge Maria Dantos has acknowledged a motion submitted by District Attorney James Martin to advance the court proceedings. That motion will be reviewed on Oct. 7.

Snuka was charged with the murder of his 1983 girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, after a cold case review by a Pennsylvania grand jury. [ LINK: Latest Report HERE ]

9/22 Update: Monday's preliminary court hearing was officially scratched in the case of Jimmy Snuka being charged in the death of his 1983 girlfriend, Nancy Argentino.

As reported by wrestling author Irv Muchnick last week, the District Attorney's office was seeking to bypass the preliminary hearing to head straight to trial.

Monday's hearing did not happen, as expected, but according to local news reports, no trial date has been set. [ LINK: Report HERE ]

September 17 Report

Jimmy Snuka's preliminary court hearing in the case of the 1983 death of his girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, will not happen, according to wrestling author Irv Muchnick.

Muchnick reports that the District Attorney's office has petitioned the court in Lehigh County (Pa.) to bypass the preliminary hearing scheduled for Monday, September 21. The hearing was unlikely to happen anyways due to Snuka's defense attorney withdrawing from the case, according to Muchnick.

Irregardless, D.A. James Martin is looking to go straight to trial. Martin believes there is enough evidence from the indictment stemming from the Grand Jury's review to prosecute Snuka, who was charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter on Sept. 1.

Presiding judge Maria Dantos, of the Court of Common Pleas for Lehigh County, will reportedly hold a hearing on the petition to determine how the case will proceed. There is no indication yet when Judge Dantos will schedule the hearing.
