WWE Main Event TV Results
April 1, 2014
Taped 3/31 in Washington, D.C.
Report by James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor

Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton introduced the show before Sheamus and The Miz came out for the opening match previewing the Andre the Giant battle royal at WrestleMania.

1 -- SHEAMUS vs. THE MIZ

Back-and-forth early on, then Sheamus asserted himself and sent Miz sprawling to the floor. Sheamus stood tall and Miz recovered on the outside heading to a Network promotional break.

[Break]

On the other side of the break, Miz posted Sheamus to get an opening to work on Sheamus's shoulder. Miz then targeted Sheamus's leg/knee, showing needed aggression. Sheamus tried to come back with the Brogue Kick, but Miz avoided. But, he couldn't avoid the Ten Forearms to the Chest against the ropes.

Sheamus tried to follow with an ill-advised top-rope move, but Miz yanked him down to the mat. Miz then slapped on a figure-four leglock center-ring. Sheamus fought the hold, then reached the bottom rope for a break. Miz released, then his momentum took him across the ring. When Miz tried to run back toward Sheamus, he ran right into a Brogue Kick. Sheamus pinned Miz for the win.

WINNER: Sheamus at 13:40. That was a pretty solid television match. Sheamus is not on a main event trajectory, but he's not in that "downturn" mode like he was when he returned after the Royal Rumble.

[Break]

Video Package: John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt feud leading into WM30.

Backstage: The Bella Twins hyped their upcoming Divas Title opportunity at WrestleMania 30. Brie and Nikki said they can't agree on which Bella will be new champion, but they can agree there will be a new champion.

[Break]

2 -- NIKKI BELLA (w/Brie Bella) vs. TAMINA (w/Divas champion A.J. Lee)

Tamina dominated early on, then showed she's serious by removing her bodyguard vest like a warm-up basketball shirt. Tamina continued to work on Nikki, but couldn't score a pin. Nikki tried to fight back, but Tamina cut her off and hit a top-rope splash for the pin and the win. Afterward, A.J. excitedly entered the ring and hugged Tamina, who sold not being on the same page as her client.

WINNER: Tamina at 4:11.

[Break]

Smackdown plug: Hulk Hogan is on Friday's show.

Video Package: Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar.

[Break]

Video Package: Randy Orton vs. Batista in the Raw main event "didn't go according to plan." The video showed Daniel Bryan crashing the match, taking out Triple H, and standing tall leading the crowd in "Yes!" chants to close out Raw.
