WWE Main Event TV results
June 19, 2013
Taped 6/18/13 in Dayton, Ohio
Aired on Ion Television
By Michael Cupach, PWTorch contributor

[Q1]

-Main Event started this week by showing stills from Payback with commentary dubbed over the video giving the results.

-Main Event music video followed by full pyro, and Josh Mathews welcomes everyone to Main Event. Josh is joined by The Miz and Cody Rhodes on commentary tonight.

-The Shield make their way through the crowd, and Josh calls them “the definition of unbreakable.” The Usos and Justin Gabriel then make their entrance, as they face The Shield tonight!

1 - THE SHIELD vs. THE USOS & JUSTIN GABRIEL - six-man tag match

Dean Ambrose and Gabriel start things off. They trade wristlocks until Justin dropkicks Ambrose to end the sequence. Rollins is tagged in, then The Shield double-team Gabriel. Gabriel is backdropped onto the apron. Jimmy Uso tags in, then he splashes Rollins in the corner and tries another one, but Rollins is pulled to the floor by one of his partners.

Main Event returns to action at 4:30 with Rollins hitting Justin Gabriel with a chinbuster. Gabriel is backed into Shield's corner, but he fights them off and lunges to his corner to tag in one of the Usos. However, Shield cuts the ring in half and makes quick tags to dominate the Uso.

Roman Reigns is in. He bodyslams the Uso and then backs him into the corner and lays the boots to him. Sleeper by Reigns, and the crowd claps for Jey to break free. He does and botches a hope spot, so Reigns pulls him to the middle of the ring. Jey superkicks him and makes the hot tag!
Jimmy is in and he Samoan Drops Ambrose and nails him with a knee in the corner.

[Q2] Gabriel tags in and he finds himself on the top rope with Ambrose laid out in front of him. The other four guys clear the ring and right before Gabriel can take off, Ambrose knocks him off balance. Ambrose pulls him down, then puts him away with his Bulldog DDT!

WINNERS: The Shield by pinfall in 9:58.

-Highlights from the C.M. Punk vs. Chris Jericho match were shown with triumphant music in the backround heralding the return of Punk. The video package then shifted to Monday night when Punk kind of sort of fired Heyman and the attack from Brock Lesnar that resulted.

-At the announce table, Josh, Miz, and Cody wonder what this means for the future of Brock Lesnar and if he is still under WWE contract. They hoped to get answers on Smackdown.

-Sin Cara and Antonio Cesaro make their way to the ring, as they face each other next!

-Zeb Colter is with Antonio Cesaro. Zeb says why he backs Antonio Cesaro, says he is impressed by the fact that Cesaro knows five languages, most importantly, English. He then takes digs at Sin Cara for wearing a mask and at his country for not having clean water. Colter tells Sin Cara that Cesaro has pride and Cara has none. Cesaro gives the “We the People” line.

2 - SIN CARA vs. ANTONIO CESARO (w/Zeb Colter)

Mood lighting is back and Cesaro dominates to start and tries putting him away early. Sin Cara goes to the high-flying, then armdrags Cesaro out of the ring, where he has a few words with Colter. Cesaro re-enters the ring slowly and feigns a test of strength, but kicks Cara in the stomach and chokes him with his boot. On commentary, Miz asks the other two guys if they remember Jack Swagger and it reminded me of that old Chris Farley bit “The Chris Farley Show” on Saturday Night Live. Meanwhile, Josh and Cody wonder if Jack and Antonio have been brainwashed by Zeb Colter. Cesaro tosses Sin Cara out of the ring and slams his head against the barrier and Main Event goes to break.

[Q3] (Commercial)

Cesaro is controlling Sin Cara with a sleeper when Main Event returns. Sin Cara elbows his way out, then runs into a powerslam. Cesaro mounts Cara and tees off on him until the referee pulls him off. Double stomp by Cesaro, then he picks Sin Cara off the mat and gutwrench suplexes him! Amazing feat of strength!

Cesaro tries to unmask Sin Cara and Cody quips that he has been there, done that, and it doesn’t work! Cara comes back with a head scissor takedown and a springboard armdrag. Cesaro is out of the ring and Sin Cara flies over the top rope onto Cesaro. Miz asks if Cesaro likes apples, then asks louder if he likes “dem apples” and Cody groans in disgust in unison with me!

Back in the ring, Cesaro slows Sin Cara back down with a resthold. Sin Cara breaks free and kicks him in the head hard! Sin Cara comes off the top rope with a semi-botched West Coast Pop, but Cesaro kicks out. Cesaro whips Cara into the ropes and throws him straight up in the air and catches him with an uppercut for a long two count. Airplane chinlock by Cesaro knocks out Sin Cara and then he puts him away with The Neutralizer.

WINNER: Antonio Cesaro by pin in 10:22.

-Antonio Cesaro and Zeb Colter have their hands across their chest while standing over Sin Cara.

(Commercial)

-Breaking news from Josh Mathews, who announces that Daniel Bryan has been medically cleared and will have a re-match with Randy Orton on Smackdown.

[Q4]

3 - KAITLYN vs. AKSANA

Josh says that A.J. has been “Mean-Girling” Kaitlyn lately. That is so not fetch! Aksana takes Kaitlyn down and slams the back of her head against the mat, but Kaitlyn no-sells and chases Aksana to the ropes. Aksana does the same thing, this time punting Kaitlyn in the ribs and dropping elbows on her. Aksana trash-talks her and locks on a resthold at the one-minute mark! Kaitlyn tries to power out, but Aksana yanks the hair to take her back down.

Sidewalk slam by Aksana, then she stalks Kaitlyn around the ring and then tries to pin her in an odd spot. Kaitlyn catches Aksana off the ropes and delivers a backbreaker. Clotheslines and facebuster by Kaitlyn, she then flips out and smashes Aksana’s face into the mat. Kaitlyn misses a charge by a mile in the corner, then Aksana puts the boots to her. Kaitlyn ducks a clothesline and nails Aksana with a spear to pick up the win!

WINNER: Kaitlyn by pin in 3:24.

(Commercial)

-Promo for Rob Van Dam. Cody Rhodes comments on how he grew up as a kid watching Rob Van Dam! Just like that, Rob is old.

-Mark Henry’s “retirement” speech and dismantling of Cena is shown to end Main Event this week.

Mike's Reax: Another week with no stars. This was another skippable week of Main Event as the matches were average at best and served more as a recap show for Raw and Payback. I will say that Cody Rhodes stood out on commentary and I hope he comes back for future episodes. He was a delight to listen to and added better wrestler perspective, color commentary than Miz could ever hope to.
