WWE Main Event TV results
May 22, 2013
Taped 5/21/13 in Omaha, Neb.
Aired on Ion Television
By Michael Cupach, PWTorch contributor

[Q1]

-WWE open.

-Main Event music video followed by full pyro. Michael Cole welcomes everyone to Main Event only a few days removed from Extreme Rules.

-Ricardo Rodriguez is introduced, he introduces Alberto Del Rio. They show shots of little kids announcing Del Rio’s name along with Rodriguez - I like when they show and encourage some audience participation, especially with kids. While Del Rio is making his way to the ring, Cole and Miz show clips from Raw of Del Rio losing to Big E. Langston. Tonight, they have a re-match!

1 - ALBERTO DEL RIO (w/Ricardo Rodriguez) vs. BIG E. LANGSTON (w/A.J. Lee)

The Miz starts off by WWE for letting Ziggler recover from his concussion and not stripping him of the gold. I didn’t know the “Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass Club” was back! Langston not so surprisingly overpowers Del Rio and throws him around the ring like a ragdoll for the first minute or so. Alberto catches Langston putting his head down and kicks him in the face. Big E. charges at Del Rio and the #1 contender dumps him to the floor. Alberto follows him out with a dive through the ropes. On the way back into the ring, A.J. yells at Del Rio to get his attention and Langston knocks Del Rio back to the floor.

-A teaser for this Monday's Raw is shown. Will Triple H lose it all by competing on Raw after going to war with Brock Lesnar? And, The Highlight Reel returns with guests Paul Heyman and Curtis Axel.

Langston is in control working Del Rio's lower back. He tries putting Del Rio away at 6:30, but it is too soon to get the three count. The Miz plugs the return of MizTV this Friday with his guest, Fandango. Rear chinlock by Langston, and he buries his knee into Del Rio's back with extra pressure. Del Rio fights to his feet only to be suplexed back down! Back to the chinlock/knee combo, and the crowd is amusing themselves by singing or chanting something as Del Rio fights out of the hold with a chinbreaker.

Del Rio seems to be getting some momentum going, but Langston nails him with a huge clothesline to stop him. Langston backs Del rio into the corner and drives some shoulders into the midsection. Langston tries a charge, but Del Rio gets his knees up into his face and then DDT’s Langston. Backstabber by Del Rio.

[Q2] Alberto Del Rio lines up for his superkick to the side of the head, but Langston explodes up with a clothsline! Langston misses another charge in the corner. Alberto targets the kidney area, then tries a Backstabber, but Big E. counters with an elbow to the face! Enziguri by Del Rio. He calls for the Cross Armbreaker, but Langston shoves him off and catches ADR with a belly-to-belly suplex for two!

Langston pulls the straps of his singlet down, then reaches for Del Rio, who locks on the Cross Armbreaker! Big E. powers out before Del Rio can fully lock it on and he slams Del Rio down hard! Big Ending is reversed into an enziguri to the back of the head, then Del Rio rolls up Langston and he picks up the win. The way that Langstons eyes rolled into the back of his head was priceless after the big kick! Priceless!

WINNER: Alberto Del Rio by pinfall in 13:20.

-Coming up: Who was the last man standing at Extreme Rules?

(Commercial)

-Michael Cole and The Miz talk briefly about John Cena versus Ryback at Extreme Rules and then throw to a clip from Raw of Ryback rolling into the arena driving an ambulance. Ryback challenged Cena to an Ambulance match at Payback and Cena wasn’t at Raw to respond.

-Cole announces that Cena was too banged up to be on Raw last week, but he will be live in Calgary this Monday on Raw to address Ryback!

-The Usos make their way to the ring, they are in action, next!

(Commercial)

[Q3]

-Michael Cole and The Miz do a little back and forth of “Us” and “Oh” for the benefit of no one.

-3MB are out next, and Drew and Jinder will compete tonight.

2 - THE USOS vs. 3MB (Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal w/Heath Slater)

Jinder plays some air guitar to kick things off. Jinder gets shoulder-blocked down and the Us-O! chant is started. Jinder takes a chop in the corner, then Jey tags in. The Miz shows off his pop culture knowledge by noting that 3MB gets boo’ed more than Justin Bieber at the Billboard Music Awards. Drew comes in and aggressively powers Jey into the corner and stomps a mudhole into him. Drew whips Jey into the far corner and runs into a big boot.

Jimmy Uso is tagged in and he gets kicked in the stomach hard. Drew tags Jinder back in and they double-team Jimmy. Jinder distracts the referee and Heath cheap-shots the Uso. Armbar by Jinder, then Jimmy fights out of a chinlock and spinkicks Mahal in the face to tag Jey in!
Jey is a house of fire and he chops the hell out of Jinder and goes up top, but Jinder and Heath are able to knock Jey off balance. Jey crotches himself on the top rope as Main Event goes to break 6:00 in the match!

(Commercial)

Drew McIntyre has Jey Uso in an armbar when Main Event returns. During the break, Jey got pulled hard to the floor and 3MB has been in control ever since. Big boot by Drew almost picks up the win, but not quite. Jinder is back in and they double-team Jey some more. Rear chinlock by Mahal, and the crowd starts clapping for Jey to make a hot tag as Cole breaks down 3MB members as the fun one, the ribber, and the Elvis of the group. Jey fights to his feet and back suplexes Mahal.

Jimmy Uso is tagged in, along with Drew, then Jimmy takes him out with a corkscrew elbow. Samoan Drop by Jimmy and a running knee in the corner as an ambulance starts blaring. Heath investigates and Ryback pops out of the back. The match comes to a halt as Ryback hits ringside and spots Heath hiding and he drops Slater like a bad habit and drags him to the ambulance. Ryback puts him in the back and drives off.

[Q4] Back in the ring, a series of superkicks by Jimmy Uso takes out 3MB and Jey Uso splashes Drew Mcintyre for the victory.

WINNERS: The Usos by pinfall in 14:58.

Mike's Reax: That was way too long for The Usos and 3MB to be in the ring. I didn’t feel the match ever got going and was too slow-paced. The Ryback appearance was a little confusing in that he took out the obnoxious heel instead of the fan favorite Usos. Perplexing.

(Commercial)

-Last Monday, Michael McGillicutty was repackaged as Curtis Axel and announced as the new “Paul Heyman guy.” Triple H then challenged him to a match later that night and had symptoms similar to a concussion. Cole notes that Triple H didn’t have clearance from WWE doctors to compete. The final moments of the Axel versus Hunter match was shown.

-Michael Cole breaks the news that Triple H suffered from post-concussion syndrome and won’t be cleared to appear until he passes a series of neurological tests. Here I thought he had bad gas!

-It looks like the advertised Sin Cara versus Wade Barrett IC Title match was scrapped. Maybe next week…
