WWE Main Event Results
November 21, 2012
Taped 11/20/12 in Grand Rapids, Michigan
Aired on Ion Television
By Michael Cupach, PWTorch contributor

-WWE open.

-The show opens with a hype video for The Miz. He runs down his credentials, all the championships he has won, the fact that he main-evented WrestleMania, and he is no push over. The video then switches to Dolph Ziggler, who calls himself awesome. He is Mr. Money in the Bank and he was the sole survivor of Team Foley vs. Team Ziggler at Survivor Series. Ziggler calls Miz soft, Miz calls Ziggler a cheerleader – a dig at his previous gimmick in the Spirit Squad.

-Main Event music video is shown followed by full pyro in the arena. Michael Cole welcomes everyone to Main Even on Ion, he is joined by JBL on commentary this week. JBL calls him anything but his colleague.

-In the middle of the ring, The Miz has a microphone and he calls himself the most must see…then he gets cut off by Dolph’s music. Ziggler has a microphone of his own and he wonders why The Miz is on a show called Main Event because he is everything but a main eventer. Dolph says that he is too big of a star to be backstage talking to Matt Striker’s mustache and then makes a Alex Trebek joke that kind of bombs. Ziggler tells him that he will outclass The Miz tonight because he is Dolph Ziggler and a fan yells out loud “and you suck!” Miz thanks the fan for that. The Miz starts to talk about beating John Cena at WrestleMania, but Dolph says that everyone has heard it a thousand times, but it was years ago, what has he done lately.

The Miz tells Dolph that it is all true, just like when he cashed in Money in the Bank and won the WWE Title, he didn’t carry it around like a little kid with his woobie. Ziggler is about to shut The Miz up and cement his spot as the Main Eventer and headliner of the card. The Miz calls Dolph a current and future nobody. Miz tells Dolph that when he fails for the last time all he will have is a old broad, a ugly teal t-shirt, and a bottle of bad hair dye to show for it. Dolph slaps the microphone out of Miz’s hand, Miz returns the gesture, and the match is finally underway!

1 - THE MIZ vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER

The Miz pancakes Ziggler and tosses him over the top rope to start, and Main Event goes to a break.

Back from break, The Miz is taking it to Ziggler, he tries a pin, but Dolph kicks out. Miz kicks Dolph in the ribs over and over as Michael Cole references an article on WWE.com about Dolph being a choke artist who is too afraid to cash in his briefcase. JBL says that Ziggler is just biding his time and getting a lay of the land. Dolph takes over and back elbows Miz right in the chops to knock him down. Big right hand from Ziggler followed by a high elbow drop into a rear chinlock. The Miz fights to his feet, but gets shoulder blocked back down. Miz tries a hip toss, Dolph blocks, but Miz counters into a catapault into the turnbuckle. Nice sequence there!

Backbreaker by Miz into a neckbreaker, but Dolph slips out and dropkicks The Miz instead for a two count. He then chokes Miz on the middle rope and then hits Miz with a neckbreaker of his own as the crowd boo’s at his showing off. Chinlock from Ziggler again, Miz powers out and back body drops Dolph to the floor.

Dolph has The Miz in a body scissor when Main Event comes back; during the break Dolph whipped Miz into the barricade to gain control. Vicious clothesline from Ziggler gets a two count, then Dolph shows frustration by dropping repeated elbows on Miz.

Both men reset and Miz nails Dolph with a beautiful dropkick as JBL mentions my old high school – St. Edwards High School, apparently Dolph went there, too. Dolph takes the turnbuckle pad off and dropkicks Miz for a two count. Ziggler puts Miz in a sleeper and bridges to add more pressure. The Miz battles out of the hold and both men end up colliding mid-ring as they both went for a crossbody block.

(Commercial)

La Mahistral cradle from Miz almost puts Dolph away, but Miz is too injured to keep Dolph down. Fameasser from Ziggler almost puts The Miz away as JBL talks about how this has potential to be Zigglers best week ever if he beats The Miz. Ziggler locks Miz back in the sleeper hold as the crowd gets behind Miz. Miz fights to his feet and drops Ziggler face first on the mat and then knocks Dolph down with a series of clotheslines. Neckbreaker, backbreaker combo by Miz only gets a two count, then The Miz tries a charge in the corner, but Ziggler gets his feet up and rolls Miz up, but his feet are on the ropes, so the ref stops the count!

Side Effect by Miz isn’t enough to put Ziggler away, Ziggler ducks a haymaker and locks the sleeper hold in on Miz! Miz drops to one knee and slowly fades out, then out of nowhere he has one last effort to break the hold and he backs Dolph into the corner! Both men are down and out, Miz gets to his feet first and pounds away on Dolph in the corner, he then hits him with his patented running clothesline in the corner!

Miz goes up top and connects with an axe handle smash, Miz calls for his finisher, but Dolph counters and smashes The Miz face first into the exposed turnbuckle and rolls up The Miz for the win!

WINNER: Dolph Ziggler in 25:35 by pinfall

-Matt Striker is in the ring and tries to get a word from Dolph, but Ziggler kicks him out of the ring. Ziggler says that every single night he backs up what he says and tonight he proved it again! Ziggler says he is better than The Miz, Matt Striker, anyone back stage, and anyone in the crowd. Dolph then said that he isn’t done with John Cena and when he is done with him, he will make history of him.

-Still to come: Justin Gabriel vs. Wade Barrett

(Commercial)

-Justin Gabriel is already in the ring when Main Event returns. Wade Barrett makes his way to the ring as Cole runs down the history between Gabriel and Barrett in Nexus and The Corre. The Corre was terrible.

2 - WADE BARRETT vs. JUSTIN GABRIEL

Barrett mule kicks Jusitn in the stomach to start and then pounds away on him in the corner. Slingshot backbreaker by Barrett gets a two count on Gabriel. Wade pounds away on the kidneys and then back-suplexes him for another two count. Chinlock by Barrett, Justin fights out and kicks away on Barrett, he takes him down with a spinwheel kick. Springboard crossbody by Gabriel, he follows with a moonsault attempt, but Barrett moves out of the way and connects with a Bossman Slam on Justin. Pumphandle slam by Barrett gets reversed and Gabriel ends up connecting with the moonsault. He Muay thai kicks Barrett and sets him up for the 450 splash, but Barrett saw it coming and pulls Gabriel to the mat and puts him away with the Bullhammer!

WINNER: Wade Barrett by pin in 3:35.

-Michael Cole has breaking news that John Cena will make his Main Event debut next week, Cena will find out who he faces, next!

(Commercial)

-Raw rewind featuring the A.J. scandal from last Monday. Cena kisses A.J. and effectively turns her heel to the entire female wrestling audience! Cena is then shown injuring his knee while chasing Dolph back to the locker room. Later in the evening Cena and Dolph have a pull apart brawl that ends in Ziggler injuring the knee of Cena even more.

-Michael Cole plugs that John Cena will be The Miz’s special guest on MizTV this Friday on Smackdown.

-In the arena, Damien Sandow’s music hit and he declares that he will take on John Cena next week on this very serial! Sandow says that next week he will take down WWE’s number one delinquent. He mentions Cena’s silly hand gestures and lewd behavior last Monday on Raw and that he must purge WWE of such a disease and WWE’s number one false idol! He tells the crowd “You’re Welcome” as Cole plugs the match and Main Event wraps up!
