Top News from the show: Hulk Hogan turned the Aces & Eights vs. Sting & Bully Ray match on the PPV into a No DQ match.
The one-hour PPV pre-show opened with a video package highlighting tonight's big PPV matches of Austin Aries vs. Jeff Hardy for the TNA World Title and James Storm vs. Bobby Roode.
Live in Phoenix: TNA went to an exterior shot of the arena to show fans waiting to get inside the building. Live inside the arena an hour before the PPV, the arena looked nearly empty with Mike Tenay and Taz ringside. Taz said there is a big-fight feel in the locker room tonight. Tenay then plugged tonight's poll to determine which top PPV match of 2012 will air on the pre-show.
Earlier today: Joey Ryan arrived in Phoenix. Samoa Joe was shown arriving ahead of his TV Title defense. Rob Van dam was shown arriving in a bright yellow t-shirt. James Storm was shown next, followed by Jeff Hardy. Tenay plugged Bound for Glory on PPV leading to the first break three minutes in.
Back live, TNA showed fans arriving inside the arena. Ringside, Tenay and Taz were shown live inside the arena, which was beginning to look more crowded in the floor seating area. Tenay and Taz talked up King Mo's involvement in Storm vs. Roode tonight, which led to a video package on their year-long feud.
Backstage: Christy Hemme was with King Mo, who was dressed in his king get-up and crown. Hemme asked King Mo about enforcing things between Roode and Storm tonight, and Mo offered a few thoughts about doing the job that Hogan assigned him to tonight.
Back live, more fans were shown arriving inside the building. TNA showed the merch stand before Tenay and Taz plugged Teacher vs. Student tonight between Tara and Tessmacher for the Knockouts Title tonight. This led to a video package documenting Tara turning on Tessmacher to set up the title match.
Backstage: Jeremy Borash was with Brooke Hogan to discuss Bound for Glory, which Brooke said is her first BFG appearance. Suddenly, Tara barged in and tried to make sure Brooke has her green room ready for the arrival of her Hollywood boyfriend. Brooke cut off Tara, telling her to win her match tonight, then celebrate...by herself. Tara stomped off, and Brooke offered a line about Tara having some attitude.
Still to come: Video of Sting's TNA Hall of Fame induction.
[Commercial Break. Three breaks within the first 19 minutes of the show. An ad aired for the "Man with the Iron Fists" movie starring Batista.]
Back live, TNA showed the arena starting to fill up as Tenay and Taz tried to hype this PPV as a monumental evening for pro wrestling. Taz then broke down the Aces & Eights angle, saying if they win tonight and get full access to TNA, it won't be good for the company. Tenay plugged Aces & Eights vs. Sting & Bully Ray, then plugged Aries vs. Hardy for the TNA World Title tonight. Back on-camera, Taz said Hardy might "steal the title" tonight.
Video Package: Highlights of Sting's Hall of Fame induction ceremony last night. Lex Luger was shown talking about what Sting has meant to him. Hulk Hogan started to talk next, but the video was abruptly cut off by the BFG PPV logo. The show suddenly went to break.
[Commercial Break. Four breaks through 26 minutes.]
Back live 30 minutes before the start of the PPV, Tenay and Taz were shown ringside setting the stage for the PPV. TNA went to various crowd shots before Tenay plugged the PPV poll to feature a match not seen before on Spike TV. Tenay then introduced "exclusive video footage" from Sting's HOF induction last night.
Video Package: Take 2 on the video recap of Sting's induction. They showed Luger reflecting on Sting, then picked up where the video left off with Hogan talking about TNA being on the map because of Sting. Dixie Carter talked about Sting agreeing to another year in TNA several times, then said she doesn't know if TNA would be here without Sting. Dixie said tonight is one of those nights where it's good to be the boss, and was shown getting emotional introducing Sting on-stage. Sting was then shown talking about Hulk Hogan coming into a gym in California back in the day freaking people out with his weight-lifting. They jump-cut to comments from Sting on his biggest career match against Hulk Hogan and shout-outs to Ric Flair and the Jarretts.
After the video aired, Tenay talked about Sting's HOF induction. Tenay then hyped Sting and Bully Ray against Aces & Eights tonight before going backstage.
Backstage: Christy Hemme brought in Bully Ray to discuss his partnership with Sting tonight. Ray said the fate of TNA rests on his shoulders and Sting's shoulders. He said it's a team that people thought they would never see. Ray said there isn't a person in the locker room or in the world who trusts him right now, but TNA has to trust him because he's the only hope they have. Ray said he wants Aces & Eights because they cost him a shot at the TNA World Title, then Hemme plugged BFG live at the top of the hour.
Earlier today: Aces & Eights members were shown arriving at the building. They had Joseph Park with them. Park was shown being dragged into the arena as a stagehand casually walked in the background, not impressed.
Back live, Tenay and Taz talked Aces & Eights and said at least Park is "still around," as in, he's not dead. The announcers then fed to mid-match video of the Austin Aries vs. Bobby Roode match from Destination X when Aries won the TNA Title. They cut to break mid-match.
The Countdown Show returned 13 minutes before the top of the hour with Aries-Roode from Destination X in progress. After Aries was shown celebrating the title victory, Tenay went backstage live at Bound for Glory.
Backstage: Jeremy Borash brought in Hulk Hogan for a chat. Hogan talked about magic tricks before promoting his agenda tonight to make Aces & Eights disappear tonight. Hogan said he's so jacked up to see A&E gone from TNA. Hogan continued that he's sick about having to cut a deal with the devil, Bully Ray, and Aces & Eights to try to resolve this, but he's turning this into a No DQ match. JB's eyes bugged out at Hogan's announcement, then Hogan continued that he wants no excuses tonight.
Video package: Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries issue over the past month leading to their TNA Title match tonight. The video focused on Aries's show-closing promo from Impact when he said he's tired of TNA favoring Hardy and wanting to beat the system.
Back to ringside five minutes before the top of the hour, Tenay and Taz broke down the top PPV matches. Mid-sentence, Austin Aries's music played to bring out the TNA World champ with the title belt over his shoulder. Aries cockily said it's a great day to be good. He asked the crowd if they watched the show on Thursday when he kicked Hardy in the balls and dropped him on his head. Aries said he's all geared up to go, but Hardy is painting his face and selling t-shirts. Aries said anyone cheering for him tonight thinks he's just that great. Aries said he doesn't ask for chants or cheers because he already knows how good he is. He said tonight, Hardy is going to be exposed for being nothing more than a failure.
The PPV Countdown show ended, leading into the actual PPV...
