Note: This DVD comes with “The Riddle Box Show Live” and JCW’s “Oddball Brawl.” Below is my review of JCW’s “Oddball Brawl,” which is the second disc in this two DVD set.

Kevin Gill came out and set the stage for the show. They had a unique setup with an entrance that said “Oddball Brawl.” They also have new graphics for the wrestlers and announcers. KG called Shaggy by his shoot name while he tried to sort out their setup on commentary.

The ring announcer was announcing the first match when the Masked Negotiator came out to interrupt him. Negotiator introduced Kongo Kong.

KG quote: “The masked negotiator is one of the most talented managers in the world.”

Negotiator also introduced Zach Gowen as weighing in at 102 pounds.

1 - - KONGO KONG (w/The Masked Negotiator) vs. ZACH GOWEN – Tables match

Gill said tonight was a night of unique stipulations and matches. The crowd turned on Kong, as Gowen went for a dive. Kong caught him and tossed him from the outside over the top rope and back into the ring. Gowen tried to attack Kong as he got back into the ring, but ate a huge clothesline. Gowen ducked a charge in the corner and Kong flew into the turnbuckles. Kong countered a sunset flip attempt and wiped out Gowen before going for a pin. Kong set up a table on the outside and Gowen nearly pushed him off the apron through the table, but Kong clotheslined him back into the ring.

They teased Kongo charging Gowen with a table set up in the corner, but he got out of the way. Kong set up Gowen on the table after tossing it into him out of the corner. Kong went up top, but Gowen got out of the way and he went through the table giving Gowen the win.

Winner: Kongo Kong – They really teased the table stipulation and gave Gowen the win, but also kept Kongo strong by having him go after Gowen after the match.

KG and Shaggy previewed the Tracy Smothers & Isabella Smothers vs. Weedman & Ring Girl Randi match while the crew cleaned up the ring.

Shaggy quote: “I noticed he’s missing four more teeth out of his mouth” after Smothers yelled at him while making his entrance.

Smothers got on the mic and heeled on the crowd. He warned the crowd that he didn’t want to hear a single JCW chant. Shaggy speculated that perhaps Weedman had medical marijuana to loosen his muscles before he wrestled.

2 - - TRACY SMOTHERS & ISABELLA SMOTHERS vs. THE WEEDMAN & RING GIRL RANDI

Randi and Isabella started the match. Randi hit Isabella with a big forearm. Isabella went to the corner and got a kiss from Tracy. Gill and Shaggy sold disgust at the kiss. Weedman tagged in to go at it with Smothers. Weedman blew smoke into Tracy’s eyes and hit a dropkick. He went up top, but Smothers tossed him to the ground and hit a flatliner for a 2 count. Isabella choked Weedman in the corner with the ref distracted. Weedman fired back a short time later with a huge kick to the side of Isabella’s face. Weedman made the hot tag to Randi, who ran wild. Smothers recovered and grabbed her by the hair and Isabella connected with a clothesline. Weedman went after Isabella, which allowed Tracy to choke Randy in the corner.

Randi took a beating for a long period of time. Isabella went for a legdrop off the second rope, but Randi got out of the way. Randi made the hot tag to Weedman, who went to town on Tracy. Isabella and Weedman battled up top, but Weedman got her up on his shoulder and hit a Finlay roll off the top. Randi then hit a splash for the win.

Winners: The Weedman & Ring Girl Randi – There wasn’t much to this match. The crowd didn’t seem to be into the match. The Rosey O’Donnell chant at Isabell was funny though.

KG and Shaggy reset things while the camera panned the crowd at ringside.

The announcer said the next match was a pin and submission match. Jon Bolin was introduced as someone set to go to the hospital in minutes. To win the next match the winner must pin and submit his opponent. Bobby Lashley came out next to a good response from the fans.

3 - - BOBBY LASHLEY vs. JON BOLIN – Pin and Submission match

Bolin attacked Lashley from behind while he posed on the ropes. Bolin is a former WWE developmental talent. Shaggy said the match would be more interesting if the winner also had to be DQ’d and counted out. Lashley fired back with a huge clothesline and followed up with a one handed vertical suplex that popped the crowd. Lashley went for a charge into the corner, but Bolin got his foot up. Bolin countered a sleeper hold into a chin breaker and went back to work on Lashley. Bolin jawed with the crowd while climbing the turnbuckles. He tripped up top and fell to the mat. The crowd got all over Bolin. Lashley then hit a spear for the pin.

Lashley’s music played and KG and Shaggy made fun of DJ Clay for not remembering the stipulations. Lashley went for another spear in the corner, but Bolin caught him and hit a DDT for a 2 count. Bolin went for a sleeper and mounted Lashley’s back, but Lashley drove him into the corner. KG commented he was surprised that Bolin got a sleeper on Lashley given Lashley’s MMA background. Clearly he hasn’t seen any of Lashley’s fights. Lashley fought out of a sleeper and Bolin bounced off the ropes right into a crossface for the win.

Winner: Bobby Lashley – Bolin got a lot of offense in given the setup for the match that he would be sent to the hospital after. The stipulations seemed to hurt the match more than help it with both guys going for sleepers until Lashley got the crossface in the end.

Sugarslam came out and asked the fans who was going to the Riddlebox show tomorrow. Sugarslam gave away three tickets to the sold out Riddlebox show tomorrow. This is the first raffle I’ve ever seen live on iPPV.

Shaggy said Evil Dead had come back from retirement and death to return to the ring tonight to team with Rude Boy against Necro & Pondo.

Gowen came back out being chased by Kong. I’m guessing the chase never stopped. Kong stomped on Gowen’s face and searched for a table under the ring. Kong set the table up in the corner and hit a running piledriver through the table on Gowen.

KG quote: I can’t get involved in this s—t, I’m a commentator” on whether or not he should do something to help Gowen.

Several officials came out to help Gowen to the back.

They went to a video package with Rude Boy cutting a promo about his tag match tonight. Evil Dead came into the picture and Rude Boy had to try to keep him on his feet.

The ring announcer told the fans to leave the room if they didn’t like violence because the next match was going to be very violent.

The announcers said there were no heels in the ring for the upcoming match. Rudeboy came out after Necro and Pondo and celebrated with the fans. Evil Dead came out to the ring with a shovel.

Shaggy quote: “Did he dig himself out of the grave?”

4 - - EVIL DEAD & THE RUDEBOY vs. THE NECRO BUTCHER & MAD MAN PONDO

Both teams went at it right away. Of course, Necro was bleeding right away. Pondo cuffed Dead to the top rope. Pondo hit Rudeboy with a bat split in half with a buzz saw attached to it. You’re not reading that wrong if you think that you did. Necro and Pondo double teamed Rudeboy with Evil Dead out of commission. Necro tried to choke Rudeboy with a garbage bag and Pondo covered him, but only got a 2 count. Rudeboy fired back with a double clothesline off the ropes. Rudeboy went after Necro, but Necro got the testicular claw on him. Pondo put a cinder block on Rudeboy’s crotch and hit it with a sledge hammer. Evil Dead chewed his hand off to free himself.

Evil Dead fired up and ran wild on Necro and Pondo. He hit a big DDT on Necro. Evil Dead got his severed hand out from the handcuffs and beat Necro with it. Evil Dead hit Pondo with his severed hand and Rudeboy nailed him with the stop sign for the pin.

Winners: Evil Dead & The Rudeboy – Spot of the night goes to Evil Dead doing the ten punches in the corner on Necro with his severed hand that he chewed off to free himself from being cuffed to the ropes.

Jamie Dundee came out and said the show was putting him to sleep. He heeled on the fans and said he had a poster of wrestlers that are going to be there next week. He mentioned Matt Hardy and James storm as appearing on the show. The crowd told Dundee to shut up. Violent J came down to the ring and snuck up behind Dundee. Dundee turned around right into a series of right hands. J sent Dundee packing and the fans were happy. KG said Dundee wasn’t booked.

KG and Shaggy talked about Juggalo Weekend again before another match took place.

The ring announcer announced the next match was a Guitar match. The only way to win the match is to hit your opponent with a guitar.

Honky Tonk Man got a big response coming out to face Bill Martel. Honky got on the mic and pumped up the crowd. He grabbed his guitar and said someone is going to feel this tonight. He asked for his music to come on and invited the crowd to clap along as his theme played. Honky lip synced his theme.

Shaggy quote: “He is not lip-syncing that.”

Honky did his entire song before the match started.

5 - - THE HONKY TONK MAN vs. SUPERSTAR BILL MARTEL – Guitar match

Martel bailed when Honky went after him and grabbed his guitar. Martel teased singing a song, but bailed when Honky went after him. Honky took Martel’s guitar and smashed it over the turnbuckles. Martel took Honky down to a knee, but Honky fired up and began working over his arm. Honky took a piece of the broken guitar and nailed Martel in the throat with it. Honky missed a charge into the corner and Martel put the boots to him. Martel took off Honky’s wrist tape and choked him with it. Honky fired back and choked Martel with the wrist tape, but Martel cut him off and took him down with an elbow.

Martel took his straps down and hit a fist drop off the top. Martel put on his karate headband and hit a chop on Honky. He then grabbed Honky’s guitar and tried to hit him with it, but Honky nailed him with a kick. Honky then got the guitar and smashed it over Martel’s head for the win.

Winner: Honky Tonk Man – This was fun while it lasted. The highlight was Shaggy and KG singing along to Honky’s music after the match. Honky singing his entire song and KG and Shaggy making comparisons to Beyoncé and saying he wasn’t lip-syncing was hilarious.

Sugarslam came out and raffled tickets with Violent J.J. J.J. threw out candy to the crowd.

They went to a video package for the JCW Tag Team Champions The Ring Rydas defending against The Haters.

Legs Diamond came out to do the introductions for the tag title match. The Ring Rydas got a big pop coming out for the match.

6 - - JCW Tag Team Champions THE RING RYDAS (Ryda Red & Ryda Blue) vs. THE HATERS – JCW Tag Team Championship Ladder match

The Haters jumped the Ring Rydas to start the match. Both teams exchanged counters until the Haters ran into each other. The Ring Rydas double teamed one of the Haters in the ring, but the other Hater threw a ladder into the ring to take out both of the Ring Rydas. The Haters hit a series of moves on Blue with Red down in the corner. The Ring Rydas made a comeback and they both hit dives to the outside and the crowd went nuts. The Ring Rydas brought some ladders into the ring, but the Haters tossed them out to the floor. The Ring Rydas fired back and set up a ladder between the ring and the guardrail. Blue went for a dive to the outside, but the Hater he was going after moved. The Haters cut off Red on the outside. One of the fans threw a beer at the Haters. The Haters taunted the crowd and got a ton of drinks thrown on them in response.

The Haters continued to double team red. They eventually whipped him into a ladder set up in the corner. The ladders that they’re using are really small. Blue cut off the Haters and set up another ladder between the ring and the guardrail. Blue fought with one of the Haters near the apron. Blue ended up taking a suplex through the ladder and spilled to the floor. Red put the ladder around his head and spun around the ring to wipe out the Haters. The crowd fired up for Red’s comeback. One of the Haters fired back and hit a powerbomb on the corner on Red, who landed right on his neck. Good lord. Red fired back after kicking out of a pin. I thought this was a ladder match? Blue then hit a springboard DDT onto one of the Haters, but the pin got broken up.

Blue set up several ladders into a structure inside of the ring. Red got tossed out of the ring. One of the Haters went for a suplex off the ladder through the ladder structure behind them, but Blue countered him. Blue hung one of the Haters over the ladder structure. He then went after the other Hater, but got cut off. Red finally recovered to save Blue. Red drove one of the Haters onto the ladder. Blue then came off the top with a double stomp for the win.

Winners: The Ring Rydas to retain the JCW Tag Team Championship – This was a fun match with the Rydas paired against The Haters in a good babyface vs. heel war. The downside was Red taking a scary bump into the ladder when he slipped while taking a powerbomb. He appeared to be fine after taking the bump.

After the match, The Nigerian Nightmares attacked The Ring Rydas. They hit a big splash/DDT combination on Red, who was hung over the middle rope. Blue then took a huge Alabama slam. Shaggy and KG wondered why security wasn’t coming down to the ring. The Nightmares stacked the Rydas up on top of each other and one of them hit a moonsault off the top on them. I can’t believe someone that big can do a moonsault. The Haters came back out to make the save. One of the Nightmares didn’t realize it and missed a moonsault into a legdrop. I can’t believe a man that big can do that. The Haters teased showing respect to the Ring Rydas, but ended up attacking them. They isolated Red and hit a tandem lung blower.

The crowd booed as the Haters left the ring with the titles. KG and Shaggy put over the toughness of the Ring Rydas. Blue appeared to have injured his leg after taking the moonsault from one of the Nigerian Nightmares.

Shaggy and KG reset things and said there were two matches left on the card. Wellington vs. Boogeyman is next in a Bag of Freshness match. There’s a bag full of something and whoever wins gets the bag.

Shaggy quote: “Picture if that guy came out of your bed at f---in night.”

The crowd chanted feed me worms at Boogeyman. Boogeyman went back into his bag and got more worms. Wellington looked like he was trying to stay as far away from Boogeyman as possible. Boogeyman gave a fan a worm and they ate it like the famous scene in The Lady and the Tramp. Boogeyman spit worms at Wellington and he freaked out on the outside. Wellington then ran into the ring and jumped Boogeyman.

7 - - THE BOOGEYMAN vs. BREYER WELLINGTON– Bag of Freshness match

Boogeyman cut off Wellington, who bailed to the outside.

Shaggy quote: “I actually feel bad for Richie Boy Bryer Wellington. They got a close up of Boogeyman, who had white stuff all over his mouth. He went to ringside and made out with a large female at ringside. Wellington put the boots to Boogeyman as he tried to get back in the ring. Boogeyman no-sold Wellington shoving him head-first into the turnbuckles. He went for a charge in the corner, but Wellington got out of the way. Boogeyman fired back and hit a big splash in the corner. Boogeyman then hit a power slam for the win.

Winner: The Boogeyman to win the Bag of Freshness – Boogeyman was awesome here interacting with the crowd. I hope the woman that kissed him has her shots up to date.

Boogeyman opened the bag and it was full of money. He threw the money into the crowd.

KG quote: “If that was worms, Boogeyman wouldn’t share like that.”

Boogeyman got more worms from his bag and ate them before spitting them all over Wellington. The crowd chanted feed him worms as he spit on Wellington.

Davari grabbed the belt and posed with it, but the ref took it back from him. The fans chanted for Tony before the match started.

8 - - JCW Champion 2 TUFF TONY vs. SHAWN DAVARI

Davari left the ring and refused to lock up with Tony. He went to leave the building, but Violent J cut him off. J told Davari expected him to be a p---y about things. J made the match a Lumberjack match so Davari couldn’t bail.

8a - - JCW Champion 2 TUFF TONY vs. DAVARI – Lumberjack match

Tony ran wild on Davari when he got back into the ring and covered him for a 2 count. Davari threw Tony to the outside, but nobody attacked him. Davari got tossed out to the heel lumberjacks and nobody touched him. The Haters held the ropes open so Davari could get back into the ring. Tony went to bounce off the ropes, but Dundee pulled the ropes on him. The face and heel lumberjacks began brawling on the outside. Davari got Tony back inside the ring and covered him for a 2 count. Davari worked a nerve hold in the middle of the ring. Davari sent Tony to the outside and the heels stomped on him again until the faces came to make the save. Kong went after Tony and nailed him with several headbutts. Davari covered Tony, but only got a 2 count.

Davari grabbed a chinlock and the fans fired up for Tony. Tony fought out of the sleeper, but Davari nailed him with a big punch. Tony finally fired back and hit a series of punches. Tony hit a moonsault and made the cover for a nearfall. Tony fought off Dundee holding him near the ropes and hit a Pele kick on Davari for a 2 count. They ended up battling up top. Tony pushed Davari to the mat, but he revered and went back up top. Davari hit a superplex covered Tony for a two count. Tony fired back and hit the meteorite for the win.

After the match, the lumberjacks got into the ring and began brawling. The announcers wondered how one of the wrestlers ended up as a lumberjack. J got into the ring with his ax and everyone bailed.

Winner: 2 Tuff Tony – This was a fun main event with the lumberjacks added to the match. Davari was a fun heel. Once again, the deck seemed to be stacked against Tony and he came out on top.

The babyface lumberjacks eventually got into the ring and celebrated with Tony to end the show.

Overall thoughts: This is a DVD you’re going to want to pick up if you’re a fan of ICP. The Riddlebox Show that is included on the first DVD from this set is fantastic. The show has great energy and it was a blast watching ICP perform the entire Riddlebox album in front of a crazy crowd.

JCW’s “Oddball Brawl,” which is shown in its entirety on the second disc on this set is a fun wrestling show. I always enjoy Shaggy 2 Dope and Kevin Gill on commentary. As you can see in the quotes I posted in the review of the show above, they add a lot to the show with their hilarious commentary and just riffing on things going on during the show during and after matches.

The show was filled with stipulation matches and for the most part they all delivered. The highlights of the show to me were Honky Tonk Man singing his theme with KG and Shaggy cracking Beyonce lip-syncing jokes, the reaction of the crowd to The Boogeyman, and the insane Ladder match between the Haters and JCW Tag Team Champions The Ring Rydas.

The main event was fun as well with JCW Champion 2 Tuff Tony defending against Shawn Daivari. The match eventually turned into a Lumberjack match and the fun ensued from there with the deck being stacked against Tony once again. Daivari made for a fun heel in the JCW universe and Tony had to overcome the heel lumberjacks attacking him throughout the match before he got the win.

The DVD versions of “Oddball Brawl” and “The Riddlebox Show Live” on this 2 disc set both look much better than they did on iPPV. The picture for both shows appears to have been cleaned up for DVD release. There were some technical issues during the Tony-Daivari match that have been fixed as well. If you enjoy JCW and ICP, I highly recommend this release. If you’ve never tried JCW before, “Oddball Brawl” is a really fun show to check out as well.

You can purchase “The Riddle Box Weekend” at most retail stores where DVDs are sold or at HatchetGear.com.
