RADICAN’S JCW DVD REVIEW SERIES
“ROAD TO BLOODYMANIA: NIGHT 1”
JULY 5, 2012
TAYLOR, MICH.

Note: I’m going to review the “BloodyMania 6” 4 DVD set as individual shows beginning with “Road to BloodyMania: Night 1.”

The show began with Corp. Robinson making his return to JCW after being out with injuries for nearly a year. He told the fans he had gotten a Doctor’s note to wrestle. Robinson went on to say he’d start at the bottom and climb his way to the top.

Robinson then announced he had brought The Rudeboy back to JCW, which is a big since they have never been in the same JCW ring together and Rudeboy was the face of JCW before Robinson came along. Rudeboy came out and said they had never been on the same page. Robinson said they should team together an issued an open challenge. The Nigerian Nightmares came down and began brawling with Robinson and Rudeboy until they were separated by the officials. This set up Robinson & Rudeboy vs. The Nigerian Nightmares in the main event.

(1) Jimmy Jacobs beat Butler Geeves. Jacobs tried to read a poem on a huge piece of paper, but Geeves tore it up. Gill got in a good line on commentary saying, “Those nipple rings are a great conversation starter” in reference to Jacobs. Jacobs, who had been tweeting on his phone before the match ended up using it to hit Geeves while they battled up top. He then pinned Geeves with a senton.

Steve Corino came out and cut a long promo running down the fans, JCW, and ICP. He went over the line with some of his comments and could have gotten the same heat without resorting to race baiting and calling people retards. Gill mentioned on commentary that Corino’s comments do not reflect the opinions of JCW or Psychopathic Records.

(2) Steve Corino beat Shockwave the Robot. They had a dancing contest during the early stages of the match. Corino did a horrible dance, which was countered by Shockwave popping and locking. Corino went for the thumb to the bum later in the match and Shaggy 2 Dope said, “Good thing his a—hole is made of metal,” which was hilarious. Shockwave robotically hulked up and made a comeback. Corino eventually cut him off and got the win with a diving lariat.

(3) JCW Tag Team Champions The Ring Rydas (Ryda Red & Ryda Blue) vs. The Necro Butcher & Mad Man Pondo. The announcers mentioned that both teams were fan favorites, so the crowd was split. Pondo and Blue had a good exchange during the early going and came to a stalemate. Friendship went out the window as the intensity picked up and Necro and Pondo introduced weapons into the match. After both teams exchanged nearfalls, Blue pinned Necro with a small package.

2 Tuff Tony came out and said his friend Rhino is the #1 contender for the JCW Championship. Rhino came down and said he was looking forward to a clean match.

Officer Colt Cabana came to the ring for his match. KG said he’s the doctor of Dunkin’ Donuts. Cabana got a lot of heat coming down to the ring and the crowd was mad after he arrested a fan and cuffed him to the ringpost.

(4) Officer Colt Cabana beat Zach Gowen. Cabana used the ref as a distraction during the early going and clipped his leg. Cabana worked over Gowen’s leg until Gowen mounted a comeback and hit a DDT. Cabana tried to use his nightstick on Gowen, but the ref took it away. Cabana then got his flashlight out and nailed Gowen with it. He then submitted Gowen with a single leg crab.

After the match, Cabana attacked Gowen. He then called out Vampiro and told him to pay attention to his attack on Gowen to see what he’s capable of. Cabana said he would send Vampiro back to his own country at the Gathering. JCW Commissioner Violent J came out and said Cabana couldn’t arrest anyone at the Gathering. Cabana told J that he’s the law and slapped him across the face. Cabana put the boots to J until Violent J.J. came out and hit a low blow. J.J. then hit cabana with a splash off the top and the crowd popped. Once Cabana recovered he promised to send J.J. to juvi.

The Weedman came out and cut a promo on Corino telling him to shut up. Weedman promised to take care of Corino.

(5) Kongo Kong beat the Weedman. Weedman got in some offense, but was overwhelmed by Kong. Kong finished off Weedman with a splash off the top as the announcers talked about Kong wanting a shot at the JCW Championship.

(6) JCW Champion 2 Tuff Tony beat Rhino. Early in the match KG was talking about Rhino’s physique and said, “I’m sure that man s---ts every 35-40 minutes on that kind of a diet. They did some chain wrestling early and came to a stalemate. Things got intense after Tony missed a moonsault and Rhino nailed him with a light chairshot to the head. They went back and forth and ended up brawling up top. Tony finally fought Rhino off and hit a superplex. Shaggy and KG had a conversation about why there would be a table under the ring for these two to use, which makes a lot of sense since nobody technically needed a table at ringside. The finish saw Tony duck a gore and Rhino went through a table in the corner. Tony then hit the meteorite for the win. Both men shook hands after the match.

(7) Corp. Robinson & The Rudeboy beat the Nigerian Nightmares. All four men brawled on the outside. Everyone got busted open as they brawled through the crowd. The Rudeboy hit a low blow on one of the Nightmares and KG said, “I don’t know how he got to his nuts.” One of the Nightmares went for a moonsault later in the match, but missed. Corp. then nailed him with the boot camp for the win.

ICP, 2 Tuff Tony, and Kevin Gill joined Robinson and Rudeboy to celebrate their win to end the show.

Overall thoughts: This was a fun show. Corino’s promo went over the line, but other than that, the show was entertaining from start to finish. One of the problems with the show as that there was a lot of down time with the announcers setting things up or stalling for time in-between matches. JCW shows would flow a lot better if they cut down on all of the down time between matches.

JCW fans will really enjoy the return of Robinson and the Rudeboy to team together in the main event. JCW is heavily character and storyline driven, so the matches are often kept short and to the point on the undercard.

Corino’s promo was the only real detraction on the show, as he went over the line with some of his comments. His match with Shockwave the Robot was a lot of fun with the dance contest. Corino won’t be getting a part in the You Got Served series anytime soon. It would be great to see Shockwave in longer matches, as he’s a fun act to watch. Heck, he would be perfect for CHIKARA.

The last two matches were the best of the night. Tony and Rhino had a good back and forth match for the JCW Championship. Although Rhino nailed Tony with a light unprotected chairshot to the head, the wrestlers should be forced to get their hands up on all chairshots. Corp. and Rudeboy vs. The Nigerian Nightmares was a good all-out brawl with a lot of blood. JCW sent the fans home happy with Corp. and Rudeboy getting the win.

JCW shows are usually episodic in nature and since this the price is so low, this show is worth a look if you enjoy the JCW product. It wasn’t as good as “Hatchet Attacks,” but it did do a good job of beginning to set up matches for BloodyMania 6 at the Gathering.
