Eric Bischoff, for some reason, continues to push for featuring over-40 wrestlers in TNA. This comes right after Paul Heyman said if he took control of TNA he'd fire everyone over 40. Actually, he said he'd "chop their f----in' heads off."

Two starkly different philosophies. It's neither right or wrong to always push the most prominent an over-40 crew or always lean toward young wrestlers.

Bischoff used as one of his arguments Vince McMahon citing a reason for the drop in business being the loss of four key 40+ year olds in recent months (Batista, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Undertaker).

It's not that they're over-40 that matters. It's that they were pushed the last several years as the top stars. They were pushed as the top stars because they were probably the best choices.

That was in part due to WWE's failure to really get behind a youth movement a few years ago and prepare for the aging out of the young talent. Over the last year they have, and so they're positioned nicely to be okay without those older names in coming years. There is a transition period they're undergoing that isn't inevitable, but is common.

I don't think Vince McMahon would argue that he pushed those four just because they were older. He pushed them because they could still wrestle, they could still cut promos, they were part of a strategic and successful enough strategy that taking another approach wasn't worth the potential risk.

TNA is not in that position. They're pretty much in the entire opposite position.

Bischoff himself said when WCW succeeded, it was because he made a list on the left side of a sheet of paper of what WWE was good at, then did the opposite.

Now he's preaching against his own lessons of his successful years in WCW, it seems.

Why? Maybe because.......
