KELLER'S VIP BLOG: Thursday night's Impact, where do we start? One of the most cluttered, undisciplined mess of a shows ever

Thursday night's Impact, as I said on my VIP hotline earlier, felt like a compilation show of the last 52 weeks of highlights of a busy wrestling promotion. The fact that it was presented as a self-contained one-week progression of a wrestling promotion is truly astounding.

I don't get how anyone could put that show together and not have a few things jump out at them.

The most egregious oddball decision was to time the Hardcore Justice PPV and the Whole F'n Show "free-on-TV-PPV-style line-up" just four days apart, where they had to promote both on the same show.

It was just a lot of work to keep track of which matches were on which show. The fact that they announced more matches for the free show than the PPV was also counter-productive.

Even worse, the commercial for next week's free show hyped the main event between RVD and Abyss as the greatest most extreme hardcore match ever, essentially trumping the hype for the reunion show.

Then as if the show wasn't busy enough hyping two events - which felt rushed and underdeveloped individually even if they weren't splitting the hype with the other event - they decided now would be a good week to run a major angle with five very big names that has nothing to do with either Sunday's PPV or Thursday's special Impact.

They ran an angle that I assume is going to culminate in a tag match at Bound for Glory on 10.10.10 featuring Jeff Jarrett & Hulk Hogan vs. Kevin Nash & Sting. Bischoff was also in the middle of this angle. Who sat down and thought: "There's not enough content to fill this show, so let's go ahead and move this angle up a couple weeks" without realizing it was unnecessary, jammed up the rest of the overbooked bloated script, and confused the audience since it had nothing to do with either show.

Remember, this is a show that opened with two titles matches in the first 30 minutes, each going around three minutes. When you're booking two title matches and having them last a mere three minutes, there's some issues going on beyond being a terrible booker or booking team... CONTINUED ON VIP SITE...
