SMACKDOWN HITS

Opening Segment: Smackdown got off to a good start with the verbal encounter between Batista and Daniel Bryan. I am already enjoying Batista much more as a heel than I did during his first month since returning to WWE. He was strong on the mic here asking where all the real men in WWE had gone and calling himself the super hero of WWE. Bryan was good on the mic as well. Once Kane came out, I was wondering who would come to Bryan's aid. I wasn't thrilled with The Big Show at that point. He already stole a ton of Bryan's thunder last fall, so I don't really want to see him getting more of that spotlight, but this worked ok. It did set up a big tag team main event. However, at some point doesn't WWE need to put some focus on WWE Champion Randy Orton?

Christian vs. Ziggler: This was a good match between Christian and Dolph Ziggler. It was a nice way to follow up on Ziggler's win over Alberto Del Rio on Raw with the help of Aaron Paul. WWE is still continuing the Christian vs. Sheamus feud, and seem to be starting another Del Rio vs. Ziggler feud. I'm not really sure where WWE is going with any of those four wrestlers going into WrestleMania. But, I do want to know and if we get good wrestling matches along the way then I'll be happy.

The Shield Summit: This could have been better. Seth Rollins did a nice job on the mic, but his script wasn't great. It seemed like it was just missing a line in there somewhere to really drive home the point of why he walked out on the match against The Wyatt Family on Raw. It was still good, but could have been better. Dean Ambrose played his part perfectly. Roman Reigns was the silent member, taking it all in and ultimately trying to play peace maker here. I really don't know where that leaves the team. I'm not sure where WWE is going to go from here with them. But, I did enjoy this segment and want to know more.

SMACKDOWN MISSES

Big Show & Bryan vs. Kane & Batista: I already talked about my reservations of having Bryan and Big Show teaming up and some of those concerns played out during the main event. I didn't like seeing Big Show getting the hot tag from Bryan. Part of what got Bryan over last summer in such a huge way was when he cleared house getting hot tags in various matches against The Shield. Here he took a beating, tagged out to Show and it was Show's KO Punch that did the damage to Kane to let Bryan get the win. I will say that I like the fact that Kane, Batista and then Bryan & Show got prematch interviews earlier in the night. That is something that is easy to do to make a match feel important. However, I didn't like the silly bit with Bryan and Show talking about their team and saying "respect the beard, fear the Giant" or whatever. That was cheesy. I'm not into Big Show as a character right now and I'm not sure what WWE can do to change that at this point.
