RADICAN: A follow up on the Death Before Dishonor audio with Feinstein with notes on Special K angle, Punk-Raven feud, where's Misawa now? Jun 27, 2009 - 5:05:09 PM
As a follow up to the Radican Audio Showcase recorded with co-host Derek Burgan and guest Rob Feinstein on "Death Before Dishonor." Former ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky was more involved in several of the angles on the show than given credit for by Feinstein.
In regards to the Special K angle that was run at the beginning of the show that culminated with Low Ki destroying Deranged, Doug Gentry came up with the gimmick, but Sapolsky was the one who came up with the angle at the beginning of the show that Derek and I asked Feinstein about.
The build of the Punk-Raven feud was also heavily influenced by Sapolsky. He was not only instrumental in laying out that angle with some input from Raven on certain aspects, but also came up with the "drunken father" angle for Punk.
In his shoot with RFVideo, Punk credits Gabe Sapolsky with coming up with the angle where Raven reminded him of his alcoholic father not knowing Punk actually did have an alcoholic father growing up. "I used everything that ever happened with my dad," said Punk in regards for inspiration for his promos during the feud. Punk said Sapolsky wasn't sure how comfortable Punk would be with the angle, but Punk was fine with it and took Sapolsky's idea, which he credits with getting people talking about ROH at the time.
Another note of interest is the fate of Misawa, who was thought to have left wrestling on the audio, but as it turns out he's been wrestling for Big Japan for a number of years where he's a featured star in the promotion.
