RADICAN'S TAKE
RADICAN: My September 6 Dragon Gate USA card Jun 22, 2009 - 6:11:52 PM
DGUSA VP Gabe Sapolsky has handed the fans the pencil and asked for some suggestions for matches for the Sept. 6 Dragon Gate USA event in Chicago. Here's what I would do if I were booking the show, as I've tried my best to create the best matches possible for this event.
(1) Bryan Danielson vs. Dragon Kid: I was thinking a tag match with Richards and Danielson both involved on opposite sides, but then I realized a pair of killer singles matches would be more appropriate.
How awesome would this match be? Do you remember the Danielson-Evans matches from years ago where Danielson would be the f--- out of Evans and then Evans would make these crazy comebacks? This would be something like that, but a whole lot better given Kid's ability to draw sympathy from the crowd and his crazy athleticism, which rivals anything that Evans can do. Danielson can mix it up at warp speed as well, so this match would definitely be one I would want to see in Chicago if I had the pencil.
(2) Davey Richards vs. CIMA: This match provides the second leg in a heck of a one, two punch on this event. If you match up Richards's current killer heel character against CIMA, who is a fountain of charisma, you'd have a stiff, athletic contest that has all of the potential on paper to be a MOTYC. CIMA is crazy athletic and so is Richards. Both can also provide the hard-hitting exchanges that fans crave in this type of setting. Wow! I'm salivating just thinking about this potential match.
(3) Masato Yoshino & Naruki Doi vs. Shingo & Genki Horiguchi: I figure in this contest, I'll throw a big and a small against a big and a small, which will create some fun exchanges with the big vs. small guys and also some fun confrontations between Doi and Shingo and Horiguchi and Yoshino. This match would be crazy with all of these guys being veterans of the famous ROH Dragon Gate Six Man Tag matches that used to headline ROH's WrestleMania weekend events.
