RADICAN'S TAKE
RADICAN'S Tales From The Pulpit: 3/30 edition of Did You Know? Mar 30, 2009 - 2:11:00 PM
-ROH debuted last week on HDNet. The debut failed to feature their top stars Bryan Danielson, Austin Aries, and ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness. Sami Callihan did manage to make an appearance as The New Whore though. Or New Horror. One of them.
-Babyface WWE Champion Triple H recently staged a home invasion on heel challenger Randy Orton?
-The main event of Lockdown will feature Sting vs. Mick Foley in a Steel Cage match? It will likely be featured in the main event slot and will follow at least 5-6 other Steel Cage matches.
-TNA's Lockdown will likely not be built like a traditional MMA/Boxing show with vignettes giving fans first-hand access to Sting and Foley training for their match.
-Torch Assistant Editor James Caldwell went to 12 Rounds starring John Cena and enjoyed the film. Apparently everyone else knew better and stayed away
-Night 2 of CHIKARA's King of Trios Tournament: Night 2 on March 28 featured a Four Way Elimination match featuring El Generico vs. Austin Aries vs. Kota Ibushi vs. Nick Jackson on the undercard. It was reportedly a must-see match by most accounts from those that attended the event.
-ROH's big main event for next weekend in Houston on April 3 features ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness defending against top challenger Jerry Lynn.
-Fans have been waiting for Tyler Black to hold the ROH World Title for nearly 10 months after his electric performance against current champion McGuinness LAST MAY.
-After Chris Benoit died, several younger wrestlers gave interviews saying that their generation was different and wouldn't continue the trend of the generations before them that saw numerous wresters pass away because of drug and steroid abuse.
-Jim Ross wrote the following in relation to today's current generation of wrestlers in a recent update to his blog on jrsbbq.com: "The bottom line is that illegal drug use and specifically the abuse of prescription medication in wrestling should not and can not be tolerated. Wrestlers in question need to grow up, become men, and just say 'No' to what should be the simplest question that they are ever asked to answer."
-Instead of bringing in a big name star for WrestleMania this year, WWE is using that money to heavily advertise their signature event in hopes of it topping the 1 million buy mark, despite the poor economy.
-UFC continues to bring in PPV customers by promoting big fights featuring dynamic personalities that fans will pay to see settle their differences, despite the poor economy.
-TNA and WWE PPV buyrates fall below UFC's PPV buys on a near monthly basis.
