Tales From The Pulpit: Triple H slips while Edge & Hardy soar Feb 21, 2009 - 9:44:09 AM
I didn't buy Triple H's act for one second on Smackdown this week. His performance on Monday on Raw and last night on Smackdown left a lot to be desired. He seems to be doing an impression of someone who is distraught about those being close to him attacked. I'm just not buying it.
In fact, I've been upset since Monday when Triple H ran down to the ring after Randy Orton attacked Stephanie. He made facial expressions like he had a really bad case of the runs while staring out at Orton while holding Stephanie's hand.
Orton has gotten so good and come so far, but Triple H being the representative for the McMahon's against Orton sets of all sorts of red flags. Hopefully they have a competitive back and forth feud and not the standard "Triple H beats red hot star" feud that has been a signature of his run on top of the WWE.
On the other side of things, I really enjoyed the Hardy-Edge match to end Smackdown. They put on a really good performance with good crowd heat (or at least it seems good in post-production). Matt Hardy's interference in the end should heat up the brother vs. brother feud heading into WrestleMania.
Overall, this was a thumbs up show with some solid in-ring action and storyline development. I am intrigued with a fresh Orton-Triple storyline and of course, Matt Hardy has a lot to prove with the opportunity he's been given.
