The Top 15 ROH Matches of 2008 Countdown: #1 Kevin Steen & El Generico vs. Age of the Fall from Driven PPV Dec 30, 2008 - 9:44:42 AM
(1) Kevin Steen & El Generico capture ROH Tag Titles from Age of the Fall at Driven PPV. September 19, 2008. (*****)
When Steen & Generico came out to face Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black for the tag titles, the roof nearly blew off the Case Gym on the campus of Boston University. I won't get into every tiny detail of the contest, but it's safe to say that the crowd was dying to see them win the titles, but the match was designed to tease the crowd.
The match builds and builds to an excellent finish. When I watched the match for the first time on tape, I was amazed that it came off better on television than it did in person. The back and fourth action at the end of the match will have you on the edge of your seat. Steen & Generico tried and failed time and time again, but at the "Driven" PPV, when they finally captured the win that eluded them for so long, it is truly a great moment.
I gave the match five stars and it is the best match I've seen in 2008. Some of you that haven't given ROH a chance should give some thought to purchasing this DVD just for the main event alone.
