RADICAN'S TAKE
RADICAN: TALES FROM THE PULPIT 7/11:Sting will be watching this Sunday! Are you excited or scared? Thoughts on new Flair DVD, Radican Audio Showcase preview Jul 11, 2008 - 5:31:52 PM
-Sting is going to be watching. Does that excite you? Will he watch the main event of Victory Road featuring TNA Champion Samoa Joe vs. Booker T through a shaded window somewhere in the arena? Perhaps he’ll watch it at ringside. I’d even venture he might watch from the rafters!
Do you feel the excitement for Victory Road?
TNA had a golden opportunity to showcase a heel Booker T presenting a serious challenge to Samoa Joe in his first singles defense on PPV since capturing the title from Kurt Angle this past April. I was ambivalent about Nash’s involvement in the angle, but if someone presented me with a compelling argument as to why Nash saying that Joe couldn’t defeat Booker, I’d be willing to listen.
The Joe-Booker main event was even further muddled when Sting appeared last week at the end of Impact as Joe and Booker stood alone in the ring. Then the wheels totally fell off last night when Sting was added to the angle.
Joe-Booker could have been a good PPV main event for TNA if they had built it as Joe vs. Booker, instead of Joe vs. Booker vs. Nash vs. Sting. The problem is that TNA is a rudderless ship driving blindly in the stormy night. It’s just too bad that this particular storm is going to land them another sub 20,000 buyrate.
-The Ric Flair Definitive Collection came out this past week and I’ve got to say the documentary portion of the 3 disc set was really good. I really enjoyed taking a tour from Flair’s start in wrestling all the way up through his tribute on Raw the day after WrestleMania this year. The backstage footage of Flair during WrestleMania weekend was a blast to watch and the last 20 minutes of the documentary are the best 20 minutes of any WWE documentary themed release I’ve ever seen.
I’m going to be watching this again soon to fully digest everything I saw and I’m sure Bruce Mitchell will be by with his thoughts this weekend, especially given the fact that he’s featured so prominently throughout the first disc. One of the most thought provoking portions of this release was Flair’s discussion of being an absent father. David Flair is also featured prominently during these portions talking about what it was like growing up as Flair’s son.
-Be sure to check back this weekend for the Sean Radican Audio Showcase Starring Sean Radican with Derek Burgan. We’ll be talking about the news from the past week and hitting several hot topics across the board including the Flair DVD, Al Snow’s shoot, which Derek call incredible (shocking I know), and so much more! If your not a subscriber, be sure to sign up and expose yourself to some of the greatest wrestling audio content available on the web.
