RADICAN: For what it's worth... Thoughts on Triple H, WrestleCrap, Mr. Kennedy, TNA, Cena's Homophobia, WWE DVDs Mar 26, 2008 - 3:18:00 PM
For What It's Worth: Thoughts from around the world of wrestling this week
-Triple H is the right choice to come out of WrestleMania as the new WWE Champion. Creative has already made sure to remind us that Orton was just a placeholder until the big boys were ready on the big stage. He’s been booked so poorly. Cena is busy trying to be the Rock, so Triple H is the pick.
-ROH will steal the show this weekend. With a locker room full of motivated wrestler and two nights of stacked cards, the small company that could will use this weekend as a launching point as they attempt to make strides towards major signs of growth this year.
-So Mr. Kennedy says he’s going to win the Money in the Bank Ladder match. Wait I’ve got to stop laughing. What did he say after that? Even when delivering promos in kayfabe Kennedy stays true to his own self.
-I feel good about TNA today. That might change by next week, but for now I feel good about the direction of the company headed into Lockdown so far.
-John Cena needs to stop using homophobic driven comedy when it comes to taunting his opposition. I don’t even think a fourth grader will laugh at sperm whale jokes anymore.
-Every wrestling fan should have a copy of “The Wrestlecrap Book of Lists” on their shelves. It’s a great read from R.D. Reynolds and Blade Braxton that you can pick up and put down at anytime. Heck, you’ll laugh at the stupidity of wrestling and cry at wasting your time watching all of the crap wrestling fans have to wade through to get to the good stuff. The cover makes the book worth the price of admission, as it features Vinnie Mac with his buttocks exposed and Triple H dressed as Conan the Barbarian.
-It’s hard to care about most of the participants in the Money in the Bank Ladder match this year, especially with Jeff Hardy gone.
-How good is ROH’s Tyler Black? He’s so good for his age that I even enjoy his squash matches and I demand he not be rotated in and out of ROH along with the other regulars. With his size and talent, he could go places once he develops a personality.
-Does it make your head hurt to think about Kurt Angle’s comments in recent interviews the longer you think about what he said? An MMA-style match, Kurt? Aren’t all wrestling matches supposed to be real fights?
-If TNA is really changing, I hope the dark crap that doesn’t match up with the rest of the product goes out the door as well. Someone in creative has some major issues.
-I’ve already talked about the ROH shows this coming weekend in Orlando, Fla., but the show most people might be talking about at the end of the year just might be ROH’s May 10 event in Manhattan, N.Y. and really, is there anything better than watching ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky playing “I can top this!”
-Nothing irritates more than WWE’s current format for their recent releases for Rey Mysterio, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and most recently Triple H. I’d love to see them do documentary style releases packed with matches instead of continuing this lame format of matches with comments from the featured wrestlers and some guests sprinkled in-between. And really, these people have had nothing interesting to say on these releases so far. Although they’ve managed to sucker fellow Torch scribe James Caldwell into buying every one of these releases.
-I envy people going to Orlando, Fla. this weekend.
