KELLER'S TAKE
KELLER: WWE Hell in a Cell PPV last-second thoughts and questions Oct 4, 2009 - 3:01:44 PM
Quick thoughts and questions going onto tonight's PPV...
-Can this please be the final time John Cena and Randy Orton share a main event match for at least a year or two?
-If Legacy beats DX tonight, will it also be ignored on TV as if it never happened, just as was the cast regarding Legacy's "forgotten" win over DX at last month's PPV.
-Are we looking at a future PPV main event match tonight when John Morrison faces Dolph Ziggler? In a year or two, they might be called upon to headline in world title matches.
-Will C.M. Punk be given the honor by Undertaker of looking credible against him tonight, or will Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell setting destroy Punk? It's in WWE best interest for Punk to look like he's in Undertaker's league, and Taker is at a late stage in his career where he needs to give back in every way he can to leave WWE in the best place possible when he retires.
-What's the over-under on the length of the Mickie James vs. Alicia Fox match? I'd say four minutes.
-Will we be sick of the Hell in a Cell format by the time the third one takes place? WWE bookers, agents, and wrestlers will have to really rise to the challenge of making each match different than the others. It's an ongoing experiment that could have diminishing returns and, much like TNA has done with almost every gimmick match, make them so commonplace as to not feel the least bit novel or special anymore.
-What's likely to be the best match of the night? My pick among the HIAC matches is DX vs. Legacy, but all three have legit potential to tell a unique story and take the fans on an emotional roller coaster ride. Of the undercard matches, the best best to steal the show is Morrison vs. Ziggler.
Final Note: If you haven't heard yet, I just completed a five-hour-plus exclusive "Torch Talk" interview with former WCW President and WWE on-air G.M. Eric Bischoff on Thursday last week. We have two installments published already in both transcript and audio formats, with much more to come this week. Get on board now as a VIP member to have exclusive access to the complete interview transcript and audio. Bischoff lives up to his reputation for being opinionated, controversial, and blunt, but with a fresh dose of introspection not seen from him before. He ruffles some feathers by calling out people in WWE he doesn't like and highlighting conduct of Vince McMahon that shocked him. As you can imagine, in five hours we covered about every controversial subject you can come up with, and then some.
