Monday Night Addendum: I'm also looking for someone to be a Women's Wrestling Specialist (current and historical), specialists covering Japan and Mexico wrestling, and any artists who would be willing to join our crew of artists featured at PWTorch. Below is the original post from Monday afternoon...
It's that time of year where we prepare for our "New Fall Season" with some added features on PWTorch.com which we'd like to have ready to start by September (if not sooner). If you are interested in volunteering to help PWTorch with content, let me know. The key areas where we're interested in contributions are as follows:
-TV Reports: As PWTorch contributor Greg Parks does for Smackdown, for instance, we're looking for readers interested in providing recaps of other TV shows, "alternative perspectives" as we often have called them. I'd be interested in reviewers for ECW, Impact, another Smackdown reporter, OVW (regional), lucha libre shows, and WWE 24/7.
-Specialists: If you have an area of wrestling you have a particular interest in, let us know and we can create a weekly Specialists column for you. For instance, if you're into pro wrestling video games and you think you could come up with a weekly column looking at various aspects of the pro wrestling gaming genre, let me know. You could also focus on ECW, ROH, FIP, TNA, Shimmer, or other subjects specific to a particular promotion or brand. We'd also be interested in someone to review the content of the websites of WWE, TNA, and ROH on a weekly or multi-times-per-week basis. If you have a knack for humor or satire, that's another possibility.
-Nostalgia: I have a number of ideas myself on how to implement a Nostalgia Specialist Column. We could have someone representing the 1980s, another the 1970s, and so-on, depending on your area of knowledge and passion. If you are interested, let me know and I can share some format ideas to see if it would work for you.
-Storyline Tracker: If you're detailed-oriented and often frustrated as angles or feuds being dropped or rushed, this may be perfect for you. We're looking for someone to write a weekly Specialist column tracking feuds and storylines as they progress, tracking the number of weeks they've been in progress, and note details that have been forgotten, dropped, or contradicted. This could be an ongoing feature with a list that grows over time of "Forgotten Storylines."
-Wrestler Profiles: If you're interested in picking out a wrestler once a week and writing a profile on them, using a variety of sources (including PWTorch archives), I have some ideas for format and structure that I believe would make for a fun weekly feature.
-Obituaries: This is rather grim, but if you're interested in creating a list and updating it throughout the year of wrestlers who died with some info on their careers and causes of death including any links to online articles covering their deaths, this would be a valuable added resource for PWTorch readers.
-Torch Trivia: If you're interested in creating a daily trivia question for the site, let me know. I can fill you in the style and format ideas I have.
-DVD Reviews: This could be a review of new WWE releases as soon as they come out, or indy promotion DVDs that you are already watching regularly, or going into the backlog of DVDs that have been previously released.
-PWTorch Polls: If you'd like to help with PWTorch Polls by creating polls for the site on a daily basis based on current events and other wrestling-related ideas, let me know.
-Weeekend Preview: We're interested in creating a detailed "Weekend Preview" type feature every Thursday that takes a look at upcoming dates that weekend and beyond, with added notes on what's known about house show line-ups for WWE, TNA, and ROH, including updated PPV line-ups, with some added analysis of those line-ups.
-MMA Coverage: We're also always on the lookout for knowledgeable, dedicated MMA followers to help us expand our MMA content. There are a lot of ways you could contribute columns, news, reports, previews, etc.
If you have other ideas, let us know! One of the great qualities of PWTorch.com over the years has been the talented writers who have been part of the site at various times over the years. In fact, Pat McNeill, James Caldwell, and Sean Radican - all staff columnists for PWTorch right now - began by responding to a post such as this and volunteering for the site.
Please email me at my "wadekeller07" (@pwtorch.com) email address and put "Volunteer" in the subject line.
Please show in your response that you are capable of producing a well-edited, well-formatted response. You'd be amazed over the years at the shoddy grammar used by some people wanting to write for the site. To contribute, you must have solid writing skills and be willing to spellcheck and proofread anything you contribute to the site. Also, be willing to commit to a schedule and reliable for the foreseeable future (no lifetime commitments are required, of course) and be open to following our conventions and format styles to be consistent with other writers for the site. We do require exclusivity, meaning when you're writing for PWTorch.com, you not write for any other wrestling sites nor can your content submitted to us be published elsewhere.
Between now and early-October when we celebrate 20 years publishing Pro Wrestling Torch (and nearly 8 years online), we plan to unveil a number of exciting upgrades and additions, to be on the look out for those in upcoming weeks. As VIP members know, we have begun expanded ROH DVD coverage with what we hope will be weekly audio roundtable discussions on the latest DVD release along with text roundtable reviews from our team of ROH contributors including Sean Radican, Jamie Penick, and Justin Parker.
