NEWS BITS BLOG: Jim Ross reviews Raw, Book a match for the Hulkamania Tour, Sting talks BFG PPV and TNA = WCW Oct 13, 2009 - 4:43:54 PM
-- WWE Smackdown announcer Jim Ross posted a new blog on jrsbarbq.com with a quick review of last night's Raw. Ross says he was flipping channels between Raw and the Monday Night Football game on ESPN, but took the bait on the variety of "hooks" during the Raw broadcast.
"One element that I really enjoyed regarding Raw was the various "hooks" that were utilized to keep me tuned in and to not channel surf as much during the commercial breaks," Ross said.
I agree with that evaluation of the show. At some points in the show, it was trainwreck TV, but at least WWE kept throwing out more items to keep viewers intrigued from start to finish.
Ross also had an amusing evaluation of Nancy O'Dell and Maria Menounos's work co-hosting. He said he "did not dislike" their efforts. An interesting way of putting it. Ross also talks Bragging Rights, Jerry Lawler for Mayor, and other topics. Jim Ross blog on jrsbarbq.com.
-- Hulk Hogan's press team sent out an email to Australian fans asking them to book a match-up on the Hulkamania tour next month. They listed all of the wrestlers scheduled to be on the tour, including former WWE wrestlers Mr. Ken Anderson, Rikishi, Nasty Boys, Brutus Beefcake, Umaga, Orlando Jordan, Paul London, and Shannon Moore.
Many of the wrestlers are listed with different names for copyright issues. Umaga is going by Aumaga, Val Venis as Val Venise, and Eugene as U Gene. They're stretching into some bad independent wrestler name territory. Hopefully Huge-Haul won't be booked. Book a match at the Hulkamania Tour website.
-- Hulk Hogan's new book "My Life Outside The Ring" is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com. The book officially goes on-sale on October 27. The pre-sale price is knocked down to $17.15 from the retail price of $25.99. Hogan's book on Amazon.
-- Today's edition of TNA Today includes an interview with Sting as Steve Borden. Basic TNA-promoted interview with Sting talking up A.J. Styles, saying TNA reminds him of the early WCW days, and sharing old road stories about getting his wrestling start in California to promote the Bound for Glory PPV on Sunday.
Sting said he feels like Brett Favre going back and forth on whether to continue performing as a professional athlete or retiring. He said he watched Favre on Monday Night Football last week and couldn't help but think of himself being like Favre in that he can still "go" and perform at a high level.
At the end of the interview hosted by Jeremy Borash, Sting said he was reluctant about doing color commentary on the Impact main event of Styles vs. Kurt Angle that will air this Thursday. He acknowledged talking isn't exactly his speciality. Interview is below.
