CALDWELL'S BLOG: How the Hardy Boys have created a make-believe world complete with blindly supportive fans (w/VIDEO) Sep 17, 2009 - 6:15:10 PM
The Hardys and their gang of MHF'ers have created a make-believe world complete with their own Internet reality show for thousands of followers to feel like they're part of the Hardys's lives.
The latest preview of their "The Hardy Show" posted by Matt Hardy on his Twitter page shows a mock court case following up on a previous storyline from the Hardy Show. Matt is shown dressing up in a judge's wig after appointing himself an authoritarian on what's right and wrong. Jeff Hardy and Gregory Helms are character witnesses. Shannon Moore is a prosecutor.
Matt Hardy posted the latest Hardy Show preview with a note obviously referencing Jeff Hardy's current legal battles after his arrest on Friday and future appearances in a real court with a real judge and real consequences. (The matter in question on the Hardy Show was settled with two kicks to the groin.)
The master puppeteer and executive producer, Matt Hardy, uses his Twitter and MySpace blog to make sure everyone knows how important he is, thus makes sure everyone knows how important the Hardys are. Matt reminded everyone on the Twitter world on Thursday that he's a very, very important person.
"Also, for 6 days, my phone, text, & email has been BLOWING up like crazy. Plz don't be offended if u don't instantly hear back from me. Thx," Hardy posted.
The make-believe Hardy Boys world has created followers who put their faith in the people who made it up. It could be argued The Hardys have teamed with WWE to exploit the feelings and emotions of teenage boys and girls who are trying to find someone to look up to in a world filled with confusion and chaos.
Jeff Hardy is their personal idol, so news of him being arrested for drug and steroid possession last Friday was a major blow and seemed to cause tremendous trauma. We saw that first-hand from the emails we received following our coverage of the news. Just look at the following comments on YouTube from the latest Hardy Show preview.
"omg jeff i luv u 4 ever i dont care if u do drugs but i think the media is lying bout everything i luv u jeff no matter what and i cant wait till u come back 2 wrestling omg i will cry with excitement lol well jeff luv u 4 ever love Ashley"
"I wouldn't care if they'd found a million pounds of heroin and crack. Jeff is still AWESOME, and his health and freedom is all that matters. Asshole snitches make me sick!"
"jeff hardy i am 13( i am a girl) and u r the only person i look up to the most besides my mom. And when u left smackdown i cried( 4 real ). I dont care that u did drugs. i still love no matter u do or say. u r my idol. when i join wwe i want to be just like u!!! I will be your fan forever and the time after that and so on. hope to see u in wwe when i join. cuz that would the most awsomest thing that ever happend if i met u!!!"
There are still mysterious circumstances surrounding Jeff Hardy's arrest on Friday. Police are understandably keeping a tight lip on who tipped them off and what they were expecting to find to protect their sources and information, but the facts - perhaps not every detail, but some details - will eventually be made public.
The Hardys have tried to create a shield of protection around them by creating a make-believe world that their closest "friends and followers" on the Internet are upholding by showing their blind faith in the Hardy Boys cause. It's scary, but also understandable when many people deal with real-life issues by creating make-believe worlds that are safer than their current existence.
The video below is the Hardy Show preview with the mock court case presided over by the Honorable Matt Hardy, complete with make-believe wig.
