CALDWELL: Summary of 5/4 WWE Raw - The Miz delivers, New match added to Judgment Day PPV, Raw Context, HIGH/LOW Points May 5, 2009 - 2:00:01 AM
-- High Point: The Miz's second anti-Cena promo. The Miz delivered yet another passionate and well-spoken promo against John Cena in attempt to bring him out to the ring to acknowledge him. Miz went for the jugular ripping on Cena for his movie career, being a product of the WWE machine, and appealing the kiddos. It wasn't so much what Miz said, but how he said it - with passion. Miz is proving to be a valuable commodity on the Raw brand.
-- Low Points: Lack of quality wrestling. Over-use of gimmick stipulations. Another non-finish in a match involving Shane McMahon. SuperShane running roughshod on Legacy...again. MVP deferring to SuperShane's brilliance by not being upset with Shane for costing him a match last week. The Miz disappearing for Big Show-Cena confrontation.
-- Context: WWE was in-between off-brand PPVs and still trying to develop a post-official-Draft theme to the show. Without the key anchors of John Cena (in a featured role), Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Chris Jericho, the Raw brand is trying to find an identity. Triple H is looming in the background, as he has not returned to TV after being Punted by Randy Orton at Backlash.
-- John Cena vs. Big Show in a grudge match was added to the Judgment Day PPV line-up. Raw's two confirmed matches are Cena vs. Show and Randy Orton vs. Batista for the WWE Title.
-- WWE began a program between U.S. champion MVP and William Regal that will presumably lead to a feud for the secondary title.
-- MATCH RESULTS: (1) Kofi Kingston beat Matt Hardy ... (2) Cody Rhodes beat MVP via DQ ... (3) Mickie James beat Divas champion Maryse in a non-title match ... (4) Ted DiBiase, Jr. beat Batista via DQ ... (5) Carlito beat The Brian Kendrick ... (6) Shane McMahon NC Randy Orton & Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase.
