Leading into the Extreme Rules PPV on Sunday, WWE is being vague on Daniel Bryan's status for the Intercontinental Title match against Bad News Barrett.

Trying to leave room for Bryan's status to go one way or the other, WWE said Tuesday on their website that Bryan is "undergoing diagnostic testing to see if he can defend his title at Extreme Rules."

Bryan was pulled from the second week of the European Tour after being protected in a tag match with John Cena against Tyson Kidd & Cesaro at last Tuesday's Smackdown TV taping in London.

Current Extreme Rules PPV line-up

- WWE Title match: Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton in a steel cage match with the RKO banned and Kane as gatekeeper.

- U.S. Title match: John Cena vs. Rusev in a Russian Chain (strap) match - a WrestleMania re-match.

- IC Title match: Daniel Bryan vs. Bad News Barrett (?).

- Divas Title match: Nikki Bella vs. Naomi (replacing Paige).

- Roman Reigns vs. Big Show in a Last Man Standing match.

- Dolph Ziggler vs. Sheamus in a Kiss Me Arse match.

- Luke Harper vs. Dean Ambrose in a Chicago Street Fight.

-PPV pre-show: Cesaro & Tyson Kidd (w/Natalya) vs. New Day for the WWE Tag Titles.
