WWE top star John Cena brought his edgier, more adult-oriented persona to the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" talk show Wednesday night on ABC.

Cena, who is trying to market himself toward adults outside of official WWE settings, also effectively promoted WrestleMania during the interview.

Wrapped around the Mania discussion were topics covering his pre-WWE days as a club bouncer in California and his present-day movie roles, including his much-talked-about sex scene with comedian Amy Schumer in the upcoming "Trainwreck" movie.

In-between was Cena almost winking at the audience about the build-up to his WM31 match against Rusev. Cena showed self-awareness about the heavy-handed presentation of U.S.A. vs. Russia. But, he also got over the simple U.S. Title feud centered on patriotism.

In an effort to engage a late-night talk show crowd about the match, Cena half-mockingly talked about pounding apple pie, visiting Walmart, and watching all of the Rocky movies to prepare for the match.

It was a different side of Cena showing self-awareness and using a lot of humor to promote himself and one of the top matches at WrestleMania.
