Today's WWE News - January 23, 2015

-- (SMACKDOWN): WWE is making a point to emphasize one of Dolph Ziggler's veiled digs at former wrestlers, perhaps even C.M. Punk, during Ziggler's return promo on Thursday's Smackdown. "I'd rather sit here in this ring and face any punishment...than sit at home complaining on some podcast!" was quoted by WWE's official "WWE Universe" Twitter account.

Ziggler, who also used insider references on Twitter during Monday's Raw including Triple H "terra ryzing" the roster, appeared to receive a response from Punk, who tweeted Thursday night: "Wasted arrows."

-- (SMACKDOWN): Tom Phillips talked about being removed from the Smackdown announce team in an interview with the local ABC Philadelphia affiliate previewing the Royal Rumble. "The way I look at it is I am young in this company and I still have a lot to learn and it's just another opportunity for me to get better," Phillips said, noting that he is determined to return to the position in the future. -- (STING): Daniel Bryan says he thinks there is a different kind of pressure that Sting will experience when he has his first WWE match. "I think he’d do very well. But it will be interesting because there’s a lot of pressure in WWE. And he’s older now," Bryan said to the U.K. Sun. “Let’s see how he handles that kind of pressure, whether it is a WrestleMania match or doing something at the Royal Rumble. It has been a long time since he’s performed in front of a crowd that big." [ LINK: Full Interview HERE ]

-- (BIG E.): Big E. talked in-depth about the first few years of his WWE career, including making the adjustment from introvert to celebrity and how fans are unable to separate the real person from his on-screen role, in an interview with Reyan Ali for the Hartford Courant promoting Monday's Raw.

"We're not like actors in a traditional sense in that they can do a role for a few months and then escape into another role, so people see their onscreen identities as more fluid [and] don't connect them for the most part to who that individual is, but people always see me as Big E.," he said. "You always have to be polite even when you've only slept an hour and a half and have to get on a plane and see people in the airport at 5 in the morning. That's something we're always cognizant of: just being attached to who we are as a character. Not that [Big E. is] a huge difference from who I am as an individual, but after a while, it's a little weird to always be so connected to who you are on-screen." [ LINK: Full Interview HERE ]

-- (WWE NETWORK): Stephanie McMahon confirmed WWE's eventual goal to roll out local WWE Network content in international markets, but the company wants to get the Network into each market first.

“Right now our focus is really to continue on the launch and rollout of the Network - but ultimately localisation of the content on the WWE Network where it makes sense to do so," Stephanie told TalkSport in the U.K. [ Full Story HERE ]
