Ric Flair and Charlotte were the pre-show meet & greet. This more than made up for the Seth Rollins fiasco in October. The return date is Thursday, January 15.

Dark Match: Solomon Crowe (Sami Callihan) beat Brian Kendrick. Kendrick got a huge pop and "Welcome Back" chants.

Of note, the crowd is hot despite how exhausting last night's "Takeover" special was.

Episode 1 SPOILERS - December 17

Adrian Neville called out Kevin Owens, who challenged Neville to a match tonight.

(1) Becky Lynch beat Bayley with a leg submission.

(2) Bull Dempsey squashed Mr. 450.

(3) Baron Corbin squashed a jobber. Post-match, Bull Dempsey shoved Baron on the ramp, and ran to the back before Baron could give chase.

(4) The Ascension beat Enzo and Cass. Viktor hit a sick STO on Enzo for the win. Post-match, The Ascension said that as long as they're still breathing, Finn Balor and Hideo Itami have not won. A "Takeover" re-match down the line was teased, but it felt almost like a farewell to NXT promo. We shall see...

(5) Kevin Owens vs. Adrian Neville went to a double count-out. Owens went hard on Neville on the outside and hit the apron powerbomb. They got some time and had a really good match. Having Owens attack Sami Zayn at Takeover was a good move, as the crowd was 80/20 Neville/Owens.

Announced for Episode #2 is a Women's Title re-match between Charlotte and Sasha Banks.

Episode 2 SPOILERS

Ric Flair came out on stage to a chorus of Wooos. He introduced Charlotte to the ring.

(1) NXT Women's champion Charlotte beat Sasha Banks to retain the Women's Championship. Just as awesome as last night. Charlotte won with a Figure-Four, where she bridged up for added pressure. Really impressive-looking.

(2) NXT tag champions The Lucha Dragons beat Tye Dillinger & Jason Jordan in a non-title match. Post-match, The Vaudevillains attacked the Lucha Dragons from behind.

(3) Blue Pants beat Carmella via roll-up when Enzo got on the apron to encourage Carmella.

(4) Baron Corbin squashed C.J. Parker. Bull was at ringside post match, but Baron played no games and engaged Bull in a pull-apart brawl.

Charlotte came to the ring for a promo. Sasha and Becky came out to ambush Charlotte, but Nattie came to make the save.

(5) Finn Bálor & Hideo Itami beat The Ascension in a Takeover re-match. Back to the weekly entrance and no face paint for Bálor. Itamia had another GTS tease for a great pop, but no dice. Hideo got the pin with a Shining Wizard on Viktor. Not as special as last night without the mystique and theatrics. Good stuff nonetheless

Episode 3 SPOILERS

New NXT champion Sami Zayn walked to the ring to a monster pop. Sami celebrated through the crowd and cut a passionate promo about achieving his dream. Adrian Neville came out to give his respects, then Sami offered Neville a re-match. William Regal emerged from the back and made it official for "next week."

(1) Sasha Banks squashed Alexa Bliss.

(2) Tyler Breeze beat Kurt Ang... uh, Chad Gable. Breeze hit the Beauty Shot out of nowhere for the win.

(3) NXT tag champions The Lucha Dragons beat The Vaudevillains to retain the Tag Team Championship.

(4) Hideo Itami beat Curtis Axel. Itami used the Shining Wizard again. The fans chanted for the GTS that they continue to tease.

Episode 4 SPOILERS

(1) Finn Bálor beat Tyson Kidd. Awesome back and forth match.

(2) Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch beat NXT Women's champion Charlotte & Natalya. Sasha got the pin on Charlotte following a Lynch distraction and a neckbreaker.

(3) Baron Corbin beat Bull Dempsey with the End of Days. Really impressive lift. Still didn't go over a minute or two.

(4) NXT champion Sami Zayn beat Adrian Neville to retain the NXT Championship. Just stellar. These guys can do no wrong, and they manage to totally change it up every time. Not as much on the line psychologically as last night, but the in-ring work was A+. Zayn won with a Helluva Kick following a fast-pace roll-up sequence.

Post-match, Kevin Owens ran in and blasted Sami from behind, before nailing him with a powerbomb mid-ring. Great heat for Owens. Refs helped Neville and Sami up and they walked to the back holding one another up.

Reax: This week I watched six back-to-back hours of NXT and the sheer flow and quality leaves me wanting to watch six more. Meanwhile, I'm ready to turn off Raw after 20 minutes. NXT continues to excel over the next four weeks. Must-watch stuff coming up!
