Former WWE & TNA champion Mickie James says she was on the road back to WWE when she found out she was pregnant earlier this year. Fast-forward to the end of the year and Mickie is getting back in the ring, but unsure what the future holds for her in pro wrestling.

Mickie talked to Scott Fishman of the Miami Herald about becoming a mother, her future in wrestling, and more promoting her in-ring return against rising star Tessa Blanchard on November 30 at "Queens of Combat" in Winston-Salem, N.C.

-- MICKIE ON ALMOST RETURNING TO WWE WHEN SHE FOUND OUT SHE WAS PREGNANT: “I was working on so many things at the time. I was already working on a bunch of different projects like a reality show. I was back in the studio, and I wanted to talk to WWE about going back there or taking a position as a trainer. All these thoughts were there."

-- MICKIE ON THE PREGNANCY WITH MAGNUS BEING GREAT TIMING: "Initially we thought, ‘What are we going to do?’ It was a blessing in disguise. This is a great thing because I was at a point where I wasn’t nailed down to anything at that moment to where I had to say, ‘I have work to do and this and that.’ It was the perfect opportunity for me. It was one of those things I’m certain that if I had to sit there and wait for this perfect moment, it would never happen because I’m so career-driven. I always focus on what is next in my career. I wanted to start a family, but it wasn’t something that I was going to take a break to do. At the time I would be ready to do it, it may have been too late.”

-- MICKIE ON RECOVERING FROM AN "INTENSE DELIVERY" OF THEIR SON DONOVAN: "I was just cleared a few days ago to return to the gym, and even then, it’s in the sense of taking it easy and easing my way into it. I’m a little apprehensive and nervous about actually physically ready to return. I have made that commitment now, so I don’t want to back out of it."

-- MICKIE ON WHETHER SHE WILL RE-TRY A WWE RETURN: "It’s something I’m really interested in. I’d have to revisit that whole thing. Things have changed since then. I think, ‘I’m better than 90 percent of the talent on TV now. Why am I going to step to the side to just train the future?’ I’m not ready to do that, and I’m not trying to be arrogant and self-absorbed. I can see how it can come off that way, but it’s the truth. You look at least 75 percent or at least 80 percent on TV now. I know in my heart of hearts that I can draw more money than them and that I am better than them. I can put more asses in the seats than them. Why would I want to step aside? This is an ego thing, obviously. It’s about knowing your worth and your talent as well."

-- MICKIE'S ADVICE FOR DIVAS TRAINING IN WWE'S SYSTEM: "I hope that everyone there maintains a little bit of individuality and doesn’t fall into some cookie-cutter mold. It’s a fine line of wanting to learn the system and the business and the game and that WWE mold. At the same time, you want to still have what makes you money and a star, and that’s being your own individual and daring to be different. You don’t want to fall into the typical mold of this is what a superstar is because that’s not how it works. Hopefully, in me being there, that is what I shared with them. Just be different. Be yourself."
