WWE Smackdown TV taping report
January 14, 2014
Worcester, Mass.
Report by Mike Rossi & Marshall, PWTorch correspondents

Smackdown SPOILERS 1/17

Highlights aired of the closing moments of the New Age Outlaws and C.M. Punk vs. The Shield match from Raw, where the NAO turned on Punk.

(1) New Age Outlaws (Billy Gunn & Road Dogg) beat WWE tag champs Cody Rhodes & Goldust in a non-title match. Decent match. Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero came out during the match and said the Royal Rumble is in nine days, where it will be foe vs. foe, friend vs. friend, and even brother vs. brother. This distracted Cody, who got rolled up by Road Dogg for the Outlaws to win. Vickie then cut a promo that was inaudible because of how loud it was in the arena.

- Paul Heyman came out to the ring for a promo to further discuss Brock Lesnar's upcoming match with Big Show. Heyman said his client will beat Big Show, who then came out and ran off Heyman. Show said he was a Heyman Guy before being a Heyman Guy was cool. Show said he will beat Heyman's client, and Heyman looked distraught. Also, it looks like Brock will be on this Monday's Raw leading into the Rumble.

(2) Rey Mysterio beat Alberto Del Rio. All right match. Rey won with a roll-up. After the match, Del Rio attacked Rey and put him in the cross arm-breaker submission. Lots of heat on Del Rio.

- Tonight, C.M. Punk calls out The Shield.

(3) Naomi beat Tamina. Divas champion A.J. Lee tried to interfere, but got attacked by Cameron. They appear to be continuing to build to an A.J. vs. Naomi match.

- "Betrayal" with the Wyatt Family. There was a video recap of the awesome end of this week's Raw with Daniel Bryan dropping Bray Wyatt. The Wyatt Family hit the ring and Bray cut a promo basically calling everyone sheep, including Daniel Bryan. Bray said he was told by Sister Abigail to sacrifice himself and Monday was his moment to do so. It's okay because he's already dead. Really creepy promo.

- C.M. Punk was interviewed by Renee Young. Punk vowed to call out The New Age Outlaws as well as The Shield tonight.

(4) IC champion Big E. Langston beat Fandango in a non-title match. Langston won with the big splash.

- Batista promo aired for Monday.

- The Shield was interviewed. They stated that they are all in the Rumble. Each one relayed how he will win and will still be an equal unit. ... A video package about the WWE Network aired.

(5) The Usos beat The Real Americans (Jack Swagger & Antonio Cesaro w/Zeb Colter). Zeb came out in a wheelchair. He said he hopes that Lesnar disposes of that big bully, Big Show.

- C.M. Punk was out next. Punk called out both The Shield and The New Age Outlaws, who all came out and surrounded the ring. Kane then came running out to tell them to stand down. KAne got in the ring and said that he's now in the Rumble because The Authority wants Punk to main-event WrestleMania. So, his new directive is to make sure Punk is protected. Kane started to head toward the back, but Punk said, "Your word used to mean something but since it doesn't now, I don't know how to take that!" Kane then told the others to get Punk. As the other five surrounded the ring, Kane ran in and gave Kane a chokeslam to end Smackdown.
