WWE Smackdown SPOILER notes 2/1

- The "big announcement" concerning the World Title is that the winner of Smackdown's Elimination Chamber match next month on PPV will receive a World Title shot at WrestleMania. WWE did not announce to the live crowd which six wrestlers will be in the Chamber match.

The "pool" of potential Chamber entrants includes Sheamus, Randy Orton, tag champion Daniel Bryan, tag champion Kane, Great Khali, and Jack Swagger, who returned to television. Swagger replaced Dolph Ziggler, who holds the World Title MITB briefcase.

The theme of Smackdown was the "pool" of candidates wrestling in matches trying to impress Smackdown GM Booker T and Teddy Long to enter the Chamber. Not included in the initial "pool" was Big Show, who showed up later in the show for a scrap with World Hvt. champion Alberto Del Rio. It remains to be seen how this is presented on Friday's Smackdown broadcast.

- The Smackdown main event is Del Rio beating Dolph Ziggler in a non-title match. After the match, Big Show delivered the KO Punch to Del Rio's announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, backstage.

- Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara returned to tag team action after returning to WWE at the Royal Rumble. Cara and Mysterio, who was not advertised for the Smackdown taping in his hometown of San Diego, beat tag champions Daniel Bryan and Kane in non-title action. Bryan and Kane bickered, continuing to build toward a potential breaking point.

WWE Main Event SPOILER notes 1/30

- The top segment of the show was Ryback appearing on MizTV. Ryback then beat U.S. champion Antonio Cesaro via-count.

- WWE did not stress the Intercontinental Cup to the live audience. The only other match taped for Wednesday's show was Tensai beating Titus O'Neil.

IC champion Wade Barrett tweeted after the Smackdown taping: "I will be making an important announcement regarding the Intercontinental Cup at 11:00 a.m. EST on Wednesday, 30th Jan.(travel permitting)."
