-- WWE top star John Cena appeared at a Florida elementary school on Tuesday to surprise a nine-year-old boy with cerebral palsy after he was gifted a new $32,000 custom wheelchair. "I'm always excited to appear at events like this, to be there for kids who face obstacles," said Cena, who posed for photos afterward. [ Story here at TampaBay.com ]
-- WWE's website published an interview with Bret Hart discussing the Attitude Era to promote the "WWE '13" video game. Hart says he would have liked to have worked more with Triple H during that era before Hart left for WCW and Hunter took off as a top star, hypothesizes on what would have happen if John Cena were dropped in the Attitude Era, and talks about how today's wrestling business is different than during the '90s.
"Just about everybody I know talks about that being the last great era of wrestling," Hart said. "For me as a fan, I loved all the stuff (Steve) Austin did with me and with Vince McMahon. Austin has such a great character that I really enjoyed following his career even after mine was over... Even when I was with him in 1997, I thought the stuff I did with Austin was as good as it gets - the match we had at WrestleMania 13, all the promos we did, the Street Fight Match. There was this conviction we both had to make it real, to make everyone really feel that these were real - kind of like what the UFC projects today. We were doing a better job of doing it back then." -- Jim Ross has published a new blog on jrsbarbq.com reflecting on his interaction with Jerry Lawler during Lawler's TV return on Raw, his future announcing NXT shows for WWE, and strong opinions about the fake heart attack angle on Raw.
"Seeing Jerry and getting to introduce him back to Raw was a big, personal thrill for me. It was approximately two months ago that I never thought I would see him alive again. Our hug was real. That was a 'moment' in case you might be wondering what a real 'moment' in our business truly is," Ross wrote. "Was the post, Lawler verbal presentation my favorite aspect of Raw? No. The King's return was the highlight of the show for me personally. But just like any other entertainment entity all content is subjective. Some folks will like some things more than others and there are some who will downright despise specific aspects of a broadcast."
