WWE Raw news & notes 8/29

PunkCMArt_130GG_147.jpg
-- WWE announced Triple H vs. C.M. Punk for the Night of Champions PPV on September 18 after originally announcing Kevin Nash vs. Punk during the opening segment. In the storylines, Hunter had the Nash-Punk match "canceled" in favor of himself vs. Punk after Punk's repeated insults at him and his wife, Stephanie McMahon.

-- At the beginning of Raw, Hunter announced the Raw and Smackdown brands will be featured on Raw going forward. The "new concept," as described by Raw announcer Michael Cole, will be known as Raw's Supershow.

Smackdown cameos on Raw included World Hvt. champion Randy Orton, Christian, Mark Henry, Sin Cara, and Natalya.

-- Added to Tuesday night's live Smackdown is John Cena vs. Wade Barrett re-visiting the Nexus feud last year and C.M. Punk vs. Great Khali.

Already announced is World Hvt. champion Randy Orton vs. Christian in a steel cage match for the World Title. WWE champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Sin Cara was promoted during Raw, but not included in an end-of-the-show video package announcing the Smackdown line-up.

-- In the storylines, Kevin Nash was "hired" to a WWE contract by on-air authority figure John Laurinaitis, going behind Triple H's back. Nash is now using the NWO theme music as his ring entrance. Also, WWE posted an item on their Facebook page teasing a possible NWO return.

-- WWE champion Alberto Del Rio was not on Raw after missing the Raw brand's weekend house show tour. WWE continued to promote Del Rio vs. Cena for the WWE Title at Night of Champions.

-- WWE premiered the official movie trailer for WWE Studios's latest movie, "Inside Out," starring Triple H. The plot of Hunter's character being betrayed by his best friend ties in with the current top storyline of Hunter being "betrayed" by his best friend, Kevin Nash.

-- WWE tag champions Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne were given an official name of Air Boom. The duo beat former tag champions Michael McGillicutty & David Otunga in a return match after capturing the Tag Titles on last week's Raw.

-- Divas champion Kelly Kelly lost to Brie Bella in a non-title match, which ended Kelly's 15-match TV/PPV winning streak and ended Brie's 9-match losing streak.

-- During a commercial break, Zack Ryder was RKO'ed by Randy Orton after Ryder did a bit trying to get Orton on his YouTube show. WWE posted the footage on their website during Raw.
