WWE CEO Vince McMahon's latest "message" as part of the "Stand Up for WWE" campaign is crying foul over a decree by the Secretary of State in Connecticut today. The ruling is that Connecticut voters who wear WWE clothing to the polls on November 2 must cover it up, change clothes, or be denied access to voting.

Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz issued a decree to election officials in the state saying that voters who appear to be "promoting WWE" could be in violation of a voting law against political material in polling places.

The decree comes eleven days before the U.S. Senate vote between former WWE CEO Linda McMahon (Republican) and Richard Blumenthal (Democrat).

"Even though it doesn't say her name directly ... the brand (WWE) is so ubiquitously associated with the McMahons," said a spokesman for Bysiewicz explaining the ruling.

Vince McMahon said in a statement on WWE's website that he believes it's a violation of voter's rights by denying them access to the polls. WWE phrased it: "The right for WWE fans to vote was threatened today" by Bysiewicz's ruling.

“Denying our fans the right to vote, denying them their First Amendment rights, regardless if they are Democrat, Republican or Independent, is un-American, unconstitutional and blatantly discriminatory,” said Vince McMahon.

McMahon did not endorse a particular political party in his statement, which would have appeared to be endorsing his wife, Linda McMahon, who is running as a Republican.

Earlier this week, the Connecticut branch of the Democratic party filed a formal complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging "illegal coordination" between WWE and Linda McMahon to promote McMahon's Senate campaign.
