WWE star John Cena, sporting an over-sized suit, appeared on Wednesday night/Thursday morning's edition of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." Cena was on to promote Raw's 900th episode that aired on Monday, the forthcoming "Legendary" movie, and WWE's attempt to be relevant in pop culture.

Cena was the secondary guest on the NBC late-night talk show, following fashion designer Marc Jacobs and "Vogue" editor Anna Wintour. Jacobs wore a kilt for his appearance, prompting Cena to deadpan during his appearance that Jacobs "stole his gimmick."

Cena was introduced as a "WWE Superstar" and Fallon did the old-school arena introduction, leading to Cena coming out through a trap door with smoke and flames to a re-mix of his ring entrance theme. Cena sat down and sold disdain over Jacobs coming out in the kilt when he planned to "show off his calves" before changing to the over-sized suit.

The theme of the show was Jimmy Fallon celebrating the 300th episode of his talk show. This led to a discussion of WWE Raw's 900th episode. Throughout the show, "The Roots" house band played a theme song for the 300th episode, prompting them to change the theme song for WWE's 900th episode.

Cena then tried to establish WWE's attempt to be pop-culturally relevant with a discussion of the "Jersey Shore," which has been one of his talking points on the current media tour promoting "Legendary."

Asked if the cast could hack it in the ring, Cena said, "I would like to see those guys in WWE. I think they would have a good home in WWE." Cena started quoting from the series, prompting Fallon to deadpan, "I love that you're quoting Jersey Shore." After another playing of the "300/900" celebratory song, Cena did a mock "gun shot to the head" signal while laughing with Fallon.

Fallon brought up Cena's dad being in the wrestling business, prompting Cena to proclaim he's the "first reverse second generation Superstar." He noted Ted DiBiase, Randy Orton, and Cody Rhodes fit the traditional second or third generation model, but his father, John Cena, Sr., became involved in wrestling after Cena gained some notoriety in wrestling.

Cena talked about his background growing up in the '80s, leading to discussion of ridiculous '80s fashion, including the obligatory Zubaz pants reference.

Transitioning into "Legendary" talk, Fallon asked Cena if he wrestled in high school. "No, we just beat each other up," Cena said, dryly, about growing up with four brothers.

Cena got serious and talked about his role in the "Legendary" movie due out September 10. "It's a very inspirational story; very feel-good story," he said. "You watch and leave feeling good."

Fallon cued up a clip from the movie with Cena in-character showing his "younger brother" how to mat wrestle. Fallon then wrapped up the interview and Cena did the "You Can't See Me" hand wave for the camera to conclude.
