WWE wrestler Chris Jericho says he was asked to be on the new fall season of ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" show, but he had to turn down the offer.

Jericho, who hosted the "Downfall" game show on ABC this summer, said a scheduling conflict prevented him from joining the cast, which was announced last night.

"Now that the new cast has been announced I can tell u that I was asked to be a part of DWTS this season," Jericho said on Twitter. "Didn't work out scheduling wise, but I hope I can be a part of DWTS in the very near future."

Jericho did not specify the "scheduling conflict," but DWTS airs on Monday nights up against Raw. Jericho, who is currently in discussions with WWE on a contract renewal, would have needed to take time off from WWE TV to be part of the season.

WWE and DWTS have a history, dating back to Stacy Keibler taking time off from Raw to appear on the show in Winter 2006. She then left WWE after a strong performance in the second season of the show.

Also of note, the new cast of DWTS announced for the fall season includes two former Raw guest hosts, with David Hasselhoff and Florence Henderson. The new season premieres on Monday, September 20.
