WWE Smackdown/ECW TV taping report
November 29, 2009
Hampton, Va.
Report by Edezal Carr, PWTorch VIP member
Dark match: Kaval (Low-Ki) defeated Paul Burchill (w/Katie Lea) with a top rope double foot stomp.
ECW Results for Tuesday's show
The Abraham Washington Show started the taping with Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendes as the guests. Awful skit that ended with Zack jumping on Abe's couch ala Tom Cruise on Oprah talking about Katie Holmes.
(1) Goldust defeated William Regal with a rollup. Regal was distracted by a shoving match between Ezekiel Jackson and Kozlov on the outside.
ECW GM Tiffany was in the back with Caylen Croft and Trent Barreta, who will debut next.
(2) Caylen Croft & Trent Barreta won a squash.
Vance Archer did an interview, but it was hard to hear the backstage skits and interviews.
Shelton Benjamin was playing Smackdown vs. Raw for Xbox when Christian came in to talk about their match at the TLC PPV. They talked about "stealing the show" again.
(3) Shelton Benjamin & ECW champion Christian defeated Ezekiel Jackson & Kozlov after Shelton hit Pay Dirt on Kozlov. Zeke abandoned his partner leading to the finish. Regal and Kozlov closed the show discussing what happened.
Superstars Results for Thursday's show
(1) The Hurricane defeated Zach Ryder (w/Rosa Mendes) by disqualification after Paul Burchill attacked Hurricane under a mask. Looks like the superhero vs. supervillain feud is continuing.
(2) Dolph Ziggler defeated Matt Hardy with a counter to the Twist of Fate. Decent match. Surprise ending. Afterwards, Matt really sold the loss as devastating.
Smackdown Results for Friday's show
(1) R-Truth defeated CM Punk via DQ after Luke Gallos (a/k/aFestus) interfered.
(2) Kane defeated Mike Knox with a chokeslam.
(3) Mickie James beat Natalya and Beth Phoenix in a triple threat match to become #1 contender to the Women's Title. Women's champion Michelle McCool and Layla came to ringside to watch. Mickie won after Beth gave Natalya the GlamSlam and Mickie covered Natalya herself. Afterwards, Mickie confronted McCool and Layla, who jumped Mickie until Maria made the save.
(4) Drew McIntyre beat IC champion John Morrison in a non-title match with his double underhook DDT finisher.
Vickie Guerrero came to the ring to the most crowd reaction thus far and the most heel heat for the night. I could barely hear what she was saying. She called out Eric Escobar for an apology. He came out and did a fake apology bit, so she booked a handicap match with the Hart Dynasty.
(5) Hart Dynasty (D.H. Smith & Tyson Kidd w/o Natalya) beat Eric Escobar in a handicap match using a springboard Hart Attack. Vickie slapped Escobar after the match. Unbelievable live reaction for Vickie.
C.M. Punk and Luke Gallos did an interview.
(6) Unified tag champions Chris Jericho & Big Show beat Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard & JTG) when Big Show KO'ed Shad with the right hand punch. That was all Shad and Big Show did in the match. Jericho and JTG worked the whole thing.
Earlier, there was a backstage skit with Teddy Long and Batista where a street fight between Batista and Rey Mysterio was announced for next week.
At the end of the show, World Hvt. champion The Undertaker came out, but he was attacked in the aisleway by Batista with a chair. They took it to the ring where Batista spinebustered Undertaker on the chair then posed with the World Title. That ended the Smackdown tapings, which brought us to the dark main event.
Dark match main event: World Hvt. champion The Undertaker defeated C.M. Punk and Batista when Undertaker tombstoned Punk. After the end of the Smackdown taping, Punk's music hit and out he walked out as only the heel Punk can. Punk and Batista took turns on Taker including Punk hitting the Go To Sleep, but they eventually turned on each other. Suddenly, Jericho's music hit and he ran to the ring. Then out came Kane. Kane chokeslammed Batista while Taker chokeslammed Jericho simultaneously. Taker then finished Punk with a Tombstone. Kane chased the heels to the back to leave Taker in the ring to do his pose routine to end the night.
