-- The New York Daily News published a brief report on Sherri Shepherd's celebrity involvement in Monday's Raw from new York City's Madison Square Garden. The mainstream press for WWE included a note about MVP losing a match to "powerhouse The Miz." That might be the first recorded instance of that descriptor being used for Miz. N.Y. Daily News story.

-- Great Khali traveled to India last week and was officially "suspended" from his duties as a police officer with the Punjab police force. Media reports in India say Khali was cited for taking an "unauthorized" leave of absence to pursue a professional career in movies and wrestling. The latter profession is up for debate. -- Former WWE executive Kurt Schneider was profiled by the Wilton Bulletin (Conn.) for helping the famous Harlem Globetrotters traveling basketball team stay in business. Schneider credited his work with WWE for helping him draw big numbers at the box office in 2009.

“No one is better at promotion than Vince (McMahon)," Schneider said. "He is really a master." Schneider will have a job waiting for him in WWE based on that quote.

However, Schneider is positioning the Globetrotters to compete with WWE for "leisure entertainment" dollars, especially with low ticket prices comparable to WWE's live event ticket prices.

“We are a great value,” said Schneider. "Our average ticket price is $25 and everyone who comes, parents and kids, has a good time."

Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon emphasized in every quarterly conference call with investors that WWE doesn't just compete with other wrestling promotions, but other forms of entertainment that target families with special events.
