WWE News: ESPN.com writer rips WWE's new movie starring Big Show Nov 3, 2009 - 3:30:11 PM
ESPN.com writer Jake Rossen is back at it again ripping pro wrestling in a story related to MMA, which he reports on for the sports site. Rossen covered WWE's announcement that WWE Studios is completing filming for "Knucklehead" starring Big Show and he suggested the involvement of MMA in the movie will hurt the entire industry.
"'Knucklehead' is an intentional comedy, which means the WWE's surprising embrace of MMA could feature some groin shots to the sport's growing influence," Rossen wrote.
Rossen also wrote that WWE announcing the completion of the film "would normally be cause for alarm in any context." He added: "MMA fans might feel especially unnerved by the idea that Wright portrays Walter Krunk, a church orphan who finds himself in a New Orleans mixed martial arts tournament."
Caldwell's Analysis: I'm not sure of the origins of Rossen's snobbery toward pro wrestling, but it's apparently clouded his judgment on evaluating the impact, if any, the movie will have on the MMA industry. It may or may not be a decent movie, but it certainly won't be a "groin shot" to the growth of MMA, as Rossen concluded with a hefty amount of exaggeration.
