WWE Smackdown TV taping report
September 29, 2009
To air Oct. 2 on MyNetworkTV
Boston, Mass.
Report by Christopher Bustamante, Torch reader

The show opened up with a video package highlighting past ten years of Smackdown. They had a new opening and theme song for Smackdown. Main events were shown on the Titantron and they plugged a special message from The Rock tonight.

(1) Batista beat Kane. This was a great match. Since this was the first match of the night, things could only get better as the night went on. Batista won countering Kane's top rope move into the Batistabomb.

Backstage segment: Teddy Long and Superstars were partying in the back. Funny segment with Zack Ryder not being allowed into the VIP area.

A video package aired highlighting Eddie Guerrero.

(2) The Miz & Dolph Ziggler beat U.S. champion Kofi Kingston & IC champion John Morrison. Good, exciting match-up. Dolph Ziggler picks up the win with a distraction by Miz.

The Rock's announcement was next. The Rock appeared on the Titantron and received a huge pop and "Rocky" chants. The Rock talked about how Smackdown was his show and how it was named after him. Rock made some funny jokes in between. He still has those great mic skills after all these years.

(3) Women's champion Michelle McCool beat Melina in a Lumberjill match to retain the Women's Title. Boring match of about four minutes. This was followed by the eight-man All-Star Tag Team match.

(4) WWE champion John Cena & DX (Shawn Michaels & Triple H) & The Undertaker beat Randy Orton & Legacy (Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase, Jr.) & World Hvt. champion C.M. Punk. Great match and great defense by Legacy and Orton. Punk didn't do much in this match. Match ended with Orton getting beaten up by all four members of Team DX.

WWE Superstars Results

(1) Sheamus beat Tyler Reks.

(2) Shad Gaspard beat Tyson Kidd.
