WWE News: Commercial-free Raw draws highest ratings since 2002, but doesn't win cable TV ratings; USA Network in close race for weekly ratings Jun 30, 2009 - 4:19:33 PM
Last week's commercial-free episode of Raw averaged the highest TV ratings since the WWE Brand Split was started in March 2002, but it wasn't good enough for a top finish among cable TV shows for the week.
The second hour of Raw, which averaged 7.3 million viewers, finished fourth for the week of June 22. The second hour, with 6.3 million viewers, finished sixth.
The BET Awards show from Sunday night averaged 10.7 million viewers to finish first, followed by 10.6 million viewers for Jon & Kate + 8 on Monday night up against Raw. Third place went to the Disney Channel premiere of the "Princess Protection Program" movie on Friday night with 8.5 million viewers.
Overall, USA Network won the week with an average rating of 2.5 for prime time programming. Disney was a close second with a 2.4 rating, followed by BET with a 2.3, ESPN with 2.2, and TNT with 2.1. Very close ratings race among the top cable channels.
