WWE News: TV ratings for last night's Raw - how did John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels fare? Jan 13, 2009 - 4:06:58 PM
WWE Raw posted significantly strong numbers for last night's Raw, averaging a 3.5 rating and 5.26 million viewers for the two-hour show.
Without any football competition to take away adult male viewers and delivering an epic TV main event between Shawn Michaels and John Cena, the Raw numbers jumped 5.0 percent from last week's show.
Compared to the previous five weeks of TV, last night's show was up 5.5 percent and compared to the previous ten weeks of TV, the show was up 7.8 percent.
Raw swept the demographic ratings as well, delivering a strong 11.3 percent jump among males 18-49. The show also increased among all adults 18-49, but by a smaller margin.
Give it a little while longer. If TNA gets a third hour, they'll start
whipping the WWE's butts!

Yeah, they'll be able to compete with ECW or Heat, if it were still
running! Wow, talk about progress.
(Yes, I do realize that that idiotic outburst was most likely uttered
because of the first biased idiot comment there, but you know how it is.
Gotta make the jokes.)

I don't hate TNA, but a third hour will not bring the ratings up. It is
that same kind of logic that TNA fans had when they got their second hour.
How well did that help the ratings? They have gotten the same ratings
pretty much since they went to Spike. TNA will not beat them in the ratings
for years if ever. TNA can't even beat the WWE's C show in the ratings, how
is that going to change with an extra hour? TNA needs a creative change and
focus on younger stars, and even if the did that it will be a while if ever
that the would catch up with the WWE. That is not bashing TNA, that is just
the fact that the WWE has been around for so long that the have a larger
fanbase and TNA needs a while to build their up. But this talk of beating
the WWE in rating with another hour is just crazy talk. Not to mention
Spikeis not going to give them an extra hour.

How come when a rating is low there is a big flashy headline but when a
rating is strong it is extremely undersold. Caldwell is the the worse thing
to happen to this site.
