WWE News: Matt Hardy issues message to critics of Jeff Hardy's WWE Title victory last night Dec 15, 2008 - 10:41:53 AM
Forgive Matt Hardy for being a little excited at 3:42 a.m. this morning after a night of celebration with his brother Jeff Hardy, who won his first WWE Title at the Armageddon PPV last night.
Hardy posted a blog on his myspace page early this morning expressing how proud he was of his younger brother after all the adversity he overcame in his career to get to this point.
"I love my brother more than you'll ever know," Matt Hardy said, "and I have NEVER been more proud of him than I am right now."
Hardy also took time to issue a message toward the wrestling media, using a blanket statement to gloat about his current ECW Title situation and Jeff's new WWE Title situation.
"We wanna thank the critics and non-believers for driving us, hope you enjoy those negative words as you swallow them," Hardy said. "We don't care about star ratings, match reviews, or what people out of our circle think about our 'pushes' and careers."
Hardy then qualified his statement. "That's not a blanket statement directed towards everyone, some peeps 'get' what we're doing actually. We most importantly care about satisfying our casual fans, giving back to the kids that are wrestling fans (which at one time was us), and being examples of success that people can be motivated by."
Caldwell's Analysis: Matt was certainly excited for his brother's title victory after going through so many rough patches in the road with Jeff, just looking at this year alone, not even thinking about the early 2000s when Jeff wasn't in a position to take care of himself on the road.
This is not specific to Matt Hardy, but it's always funny to read people within WWE acknowledge the "wrestling media," but never name names so as to make it seem like they don't read anything from the wrestling media. It's like a college football coach who says he never reads the newspaper, but everyone knows he's looking for the latest press clippings on his team. "Oh, it's just something I heard from a friend of a friend of a friend from the wrestling media," but to actually be specific in a criticism of the wrestling media would apparently be frowned upon by Big Bad Brother WWE.
