WWE News: Elijah Burke issues cryptic statement following WWE release Nov 11, 2008 - 10:40:00 AM
Elijah Burke posted the following statement on his official website theelijahexpress.com after WWE announced roster cuts yesterday that included Burke.
"My time is at hand. Do not weep, nor mourn, for I am gone but 4(up) a while. Hold on to that which I gave you, share it in laughter with those around you. For I have landed but for a brief refueling, for the course YOUR Pope takes is far far away.
"Your Pope smiles as he writes this knowing that peace is filled within, to all within the Congregation, NOW the true test begin! And remember, MY COMEBACK SHALL BE GREATER THAN MY SETBACK!~ The Pope Has Spoken!"
Either he thinks he will be back shortly in WWE, or he already has on offer
on the table from somewhere else ...

The E continuing to drop the ball. They could've done so much with Burke.
Apparently the only black wrestlers they're interested in much just
reinforces stereotypes like Cryme Time and "What's Up" K-Kwik, R-Truth or
whatever he's called this time. Why not get behind a great wrestler like
Benjamin and let him do his thing?
Burke was well-rounded. He's a good wrestler, is very creative, and has a
unique take on his own character. What's not to like? I guess "The Black
Pope" was something Creative didn't create, therefore, they had "nothing
for him" and he got "future endeavored."

If anything, Burke has the one thing that Shleton Benjamin may be lacking a
bit -- charisma. The guy is a great talker, they should have tried him out
in one of the big two brands.
(ps -- I'm a big Shelton fan.)
