WWE News: John Cena responds to Triple H's comments about WWE being his life Nov 1, 2008 - 5:05:56 PM
John Cena says he doesn't have a back-up plan and being a wrestler in WWE is all he has. This came in response to Triple H's recent comments on WWE TV when he said in a video package that Cena's life, wife, and kids is WWE.
"Coming from one of my peers, it could be taken two ways," Cena said with a smile in an interview with the Herald Sun in Australia. "I guess I am a one-trick pony. I love what I do. However I choose to look at it, Triple H is actually very correct. I don't have a wife, I don't have kids, and I certainly travel 300 days a year. So, well said, Triple H."
Cena says his goal is to spread the "good word" about WWE and be the guy who gets WWE wrestlers on the red carpet at the Oscars, get on talk shows anywhere in the world, and be associated with entertainment and sports events "we're supposed to be associated with."
"I've had opportunities to make a living in other facets of entertainment and I've turned a lot of things down to stay in the wrestling ring," Cena said. "I've been in this company quite a while now and everybody knows I'm the guy who doesn't say no."
Caldwell Analysis: It's good to see Cena take the high road on Triple H's comments and turn it into a way to promote the WWE brand instead of returning the favor on Hunter's back-handed compliment. Cena is WWE's ultimate goodwill ambassador and he hasn't shown signs of burning out, but he's taking steps to act more his age to hopefully prevent the burn-out factor. He also said in the interview that he's trying to act more like an adult and "slowing down" on the road rather than trying to be with women everywhere he goes on the road.
