INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS with Brutus Beefcake
Brutus was welcomed to the show and mentioned his appearance at The Sandwich High School in Sandwich, Ma. Saturday April 5th. For more information on getting tickets please visit: http://www.newworldwrestling.com
Jack asks Brutus if he still cuts hair and who was the most fun to do it do. Brutus says he does it at every show and he has cut 1000's of times, they are all fun to do.
Brutus says Johnny Valiant was a better manager for him than Jimmy Hart, Lou Albano and even The Booty Babe. Brutus says Valiant wasn't a great wrestler but a good talent on the mic.
Jack asks if Brutus enjoyed playing the heel or baby face more. Brutus said his personality was more for a heel and he enjoyed it more so he didn't have to be a nice guy.
Brutus says his Bulldogs match at Wrestlemania II was probably his best match. Brutus says the Dream Team was a great team, and talks about how he and Greg Valentine were a good fit. Greg was a mentor to him and taught him the ropes how to work in the North East, and Brutus added the color to the team.
Jack asks why there wasn't a bigger feud between Brutus and Greg Valentine, Brutus says that's a good question, ask Vince McMahon.
Brutus talks about too many PPVs today. They used to be a big deal and people would wait and look forward to them. Today there are so many between wrestling and other things, none of them are that special. PPVs are too common and they have hurt themselves.
Caller Jason asks if it was true it took Greg Valentine 30 minutes to break a sweat in the ring. Brutus says that was Greg's style to start slow. Greg was used to wrestling 35-45 minutes up to 60 minutes. Brutus believes Greg was really good at what he did.
Caller Duane asks about The Zodiac character. Brutus says he couldn't use the name Brutus Beefcake so WCW was at a loss at what to do with him. Brutus was filming Mr. Nanny with Hulk Hogan. The character came up in the movie so they didn't show Brutus beating on the Hulkster. Kevin Sullivan then said let's call him the Zodiac and put him in the Dungeon of Doom, and it gave him a job.
Caller Mike from Staten Island asks about Brutus' feud with Mr. Perfect and cutting The Genius's hair. Brutus talks about Lanny Poffo not knowing Brutus was to cut his hair and was really running away. Randy Savage almost got into a fist fight with him backstage over it. Brutus said the booker Pat Patterson didn't tell Lanny about it, but told Brutus to do it.
Brutus said if you refused to get your hair cut you'd lose your job, many people complained a lot. Brutus says if you were nice to him he'd cut a little but if you weren't he would cut more.
Caller Adam asks about Ric Flair's retirement. Brutus says his match was darn good. Brutus says if you waste your money on buying the Flair book you will read some vicious things about Brutus. Brutus knew him since the 80s and has no reason why Flair would trash him. Brutus says Flair is a pathetic a$$h*le to stoop to that level to put himself over by trashing his own friends.
Brutus tells all his fans to come out and see him when he is in town. Unlike a WWE show, you get to meet the wrestlers up close and take pictures and get autographs, it's a lot more fun for the fans. New World Wrestling is family friendly so you don't have to worry about bringing your kids.
