TORCH TRIVIA 2/13: Answer to which tag team debuted in WWE 10 years ago and lasted just a few months Feb 14, 2009 - 12:32:28 PM
Original question: Ten years ago around Valentine's Day 1999, WWE signed a famous Attitude era tag team to contracts. They were backstage at the Feb. 15, 1999 Raw after leaving their prior employer, but only lasted until the spring when they were not accepted backstage and underwent various "creative" changes to the team dynamic. What was this tag team?
(a) Eliminators
(b) Public Enemy
(c) Faces of Fear
(d) FBI
The answer is (b) Public Enemy. Johnny Grunge and Ted Petty left ECW prior to their expected departure in March, and signed contracts with WWE before debuting later in the month. Unfortunately, things didn't work out too well when they were "re-branded" with a different look.
Several Trivia respondents were quick to point out how they didn't fit in behind-the-scenes, as they were one of the first people to jump ship from WCW. Ironically, Paul Wight (Big Show a/k/a The Giant) debuted in WWE exactly ten years ago when he appeared in the Steve Austin vs. Vince McMahon match at the St. Valentine's Day Massacre PPV.
