Before Ric Flair and 2015 WWE Hall of Famer Tatsumi Fujinami main-evented the first WCW Superbrawl PPV in May 1991, the duo locked up in front of 70,000 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan 24 years ago today.

Fujinami was declared the winner of the main event and new WCW/NWA World Hvt. champion. However, the decision was over-ruled due to activity outlined below. This led to a unification match between Flair and Fujinami at Superbrawl two months later.

The WCW vs. New Japan Supershow also included Sting vs. Great Muta, The Horsemen, the Steiners, Jushin Liger, and more top stars.

PWTorch Newsletter Cover Story: In front of nearly 70,000 fans in Tokyo, Japan at the Tokyo Dome on March 21, Tatsumi Fujinami hit "Nature Boy" Ric Flair with two enziguiris and a suplex before pinning him to become the new WCW World Hvt. champion at 25:20.

Fujinami was carried out of the ring to the grandstand area of the Tokyo Dome on the shoulders of many wrestlers. The thunderous ovation for Fujinami's win was second only to Antonio Inoki's appearance earlier in the event.

The four-star main event match saw Ric Flair's usual array of moves, including him bleeding at 12:00. In a finish Dusty Rhodes booked, a finish which has not occurred in Japan since 1982, Flair bumped into the referee. With the referee knocked down, Fujinami threw Flair over the top rope. When Flair returned to the ring, Fujinami covered Flair twice for apparent pins as fans counted along with Fujinami's slaps to the mat each time. The referee then regained his equilibrium and was able to count Flair's shoulders to the mat a moment later.
