WWF Raw TV Flashback - 15 yrs. ago
November 1, 1999
Live from Washington, D.C.
Report by Wade Keller, PWTorch editor

Full Report available for VIP members HERE.

(1) The Hardys (w/Terri) & Edge & Christian beat Too Cool & The Hollys when Edge pinned Crash at 4:50. Too Cool's gimmick seems to be a parody of Buff Bagwell's persona. Ross continued to give Lawler a hard time about being Christopher's father...
]
(2) Mick Foley & Al Snow beat Big Bossman & Prince Albert when Snow pinned Albert at 4:12. A minute into the match Val went into the locker room and began throwing Foley's books into a trash can. Bossman nailed Foley between his legs from behind with a stick. Later Snow rolled a bowling ball between Bossman's spread legs in the corner. Backstage Val set the books on fire. Foley saw it on the big screen and ran to the back with a fire extinguisher, but didn't get there in time...

(3) Chyna pinned Stevie Richards at 1:01. As Richards goose-stepped and celebrated his early offense, Chyna low-blowed him from behind and pinned him. Jericho attacked Chyna after the match and applied the Walls of Jericho. He put the IC belt up against his waist and yelled that the belt would soon be his. He then threw the belt on top of the fallen Chyna.

(4) Steve Austin beat Billy Gunn via DQ at 5:37. Austin suffered a hardway cut above his eye at 2:30. They returned to the ring where Gunn put him in a chinlock for a minute. Austin made a comeback and hit the Stunner. The rest of DX ran to the ring. Austin rolled out of the ring, but returned with a chair and cleared the ring of DX. He gave X-Pac an especially stiff chairshot. Austin sat in the ring and drank a beer as DX retreated to the back.

(5) Val Venis fought Test to a no contest at 4:25. When Val first got to the ring, he said he had no problem with Test, but then addressed comments to Stephanie. He said it's good she got over her amnesia. She said if she had spent one night with him, it would have been a night she'd never have forgotten. Test attacked Val. Stephanie laid the sap on thick as she thanked her mother for her support, wished Ross's wife a happy birthday, and said she is completely in love with Test. Mankind charged the ring and attacked Val in retaliation for burning his books. Stephanie returned to the ring with a mic. She said she is more in love with Test than anyone in her life. She said she is going to break from tradition and then asked him to marry her. Test said yes. They kissed and hugged...

(6) Kane beat X-Pac via DQ at 0:10 when DX interfered. Before the match X-Pac told Kane he told "that slut Torrie" about the fire and how Kane isn't much of a man anymore as a result. DX attacked Kane. Lawler said Kane must be a "big red virgin." Referees checked on Kane as DX left the ring...

A Kurt Angle vignette aired where he ran down his credentials as an Olympic wrestler. He said the WWF is the next level. The voiceover called him a "real athlete," hinting that his gimmick will be that unlike the other WWF wrestlers, he is a "real athlete"... Kane attacked DX backstage. WWF officials intervened. McMahon got in Triple H's face and said he was forcing him to defend the WWF Title in the TV main event. When Triple H said he hoped his match would be against Vince because he'd like nothing more than to kick his ass, Shane McMahon attacked him. Triple H got up and offered to give Shane the title shot.

(7) The Head Bangers beat The Dudleys when Thrasher pinned Buh Buh at 4:32. The fans chanted "boring" loudly during the match. Ross said the finish came out of nowhere, almost insinuating that they were told to go home early because of the "boring" chants.

Lilian Garcia introduced guest ring announcer Vince McMahon for the main event. McMahon came to the ring to his music, then said he was going to break with tradition and introduce the champ first. Triple H came out with the rest of DX. McMahon then introduced guest color commentator Steve Austin. Triple H threw a fit. Lawler complained about Austin coming out until he sat next to him, at which point Lawler was friendly toward him. McMahon then introduced Kane as the special ringside enforcer. McMahon then introduced the special timekeeper. The fans chanted "Rocky." Indeed it turned out to be Rock. Vince finally introduced Shane McMahon as "the next WWF Champion."

(8) Triple H pinned Shane McMahon at 7:45 to retain the WWF Title. Shane charged the ring and attacked Triple H with a spear. He took early offense, but Triple H soon took control. Austin asked if they remembered the last time McMahon was at ringside for a title match. Austin said he remembered and he loved it, then he chuckled. It took a long time, but it seems Austin finally went on record with his opinion on the Survivor Series swerve finish on Bret Hart...

X-Pac kicked Shane over the barrier. Kane then clotheslined X-Pac over the barrier into the crowd. On color Austin did a good job putting Triple H over as the champ. As Triple H mouthed off at Austin, Shane leaped off the barrier with a clothesline. In the ring Shane gave Triple H a Pedigree for a two count. Shane took a bump over the top rope. When Road Dog gave Shane a pump handle slam at ringside, Rock attacked him. They brawled through the crowd. At 5:50 the ref went down. As Shane climbed to the top rope, Gunn knocked him off it. Austin then attacked Gunn and they fought up the rampway. Triple H gave Shane a Pedigree. Austin returned to the ring and gave Triple H a Stone Cold Stunner. Austin returned to ringside and exchanged punches with Gunn. With both Triple H and Shane on the mat, Vince entered the ring. Ross said, "We're not even near Montreal." Vince tried to hit Triple H with the belt, but hit Shane by mistake. Triple H gave Vince a low-blow and then pinned Shane. Ross wondered if it was truly an accident.
