WWE Raw Reax 2/18
Adam Riemer, PWTorch reader: Best: I don't really know. Worst: This new WWE Title. It took all of five seconds after Raw went off the air for me to wish for the Spinner belt back, and I hated that thing. Rock said the title shouldn't look like a toy, welp, the new one looks just as much of a toy as the Spinner belt looked. The Winged Eagle is never coming back, so everyone needs to get off that train. The rest of the show just seemed...eh. Am I the only one who thinks that outside of one match, WWE has no clue what they are doing for Mania? We don't even know the WWE Title match is, which I am assuming is to give Undertaker one more week. And, about the "crowd being dead," they had every right to be dead. I'd be pissed and quiet, too, if WWE spent an entire night talking about everything they are going to do next week. Speaking of next week, Punk vs. Cena is becoming the new Kane vs. Undertaker. Then, Vince vs. Heyman means both Lesnar and Triple H return to get in the middle of it, as it takes a little more than two weeks to heal a surgically repaired/replaced hip ... unless you're John Cena and have a magical healing abilities.
Blake Reilly of Milwaukee, Wis. of the Entertainment Report (@EReport1) (8.5): Best Match: Shield vs. Y2J/Sheamus/Ryback. Worst Match: Henry vs. Sin Cara. Am I the only one who truly enjoyed Raw? Was it perfect? No. But it set up a lot for the next few weeks. (1) I like the idea of Cena-Punk. It actually makes sense and fits the story they have been telling going back to the original pipebomb in June 2011. (2) I believe they are setting up Swagger-Del Rio really well. Swagger & Colter are total pricks and Del Rio just needs mic time to counteract it. (3) The Shield looked great. They are very inventive and are must-watch. Also, the fact that they are getting clean wins using amazing teamwork is fantastic. (4) As for the rest of the show, I thought it fit really well together and I thought it was fast-paced. I had more of an issue with WWE wasting time making fun "Barrett's movie" than I had with the comedy. I also like the way WWE is using Randy Orton and stressing "snake" right now. Concerning the new belt, it's all right and it's going to take some getting used to. Overall, a good first step on the long road to Mania.
Jim of Leeds, U.K. (5.0): Best: The Shield. Worst: Anything with Cena / Ziggler losing / Cesaro vs. Miz again. Overall, I thought this was a pointless Raw that did more to advertise next week than do anything of value this week. I'm down on the current WWE Title picture. So, we get SuperCena vs. Punk (again) next week, where Cena goes over (again). What was so wrong with letting Punk win at the Rumble, Rock going over at the Chamber, and having a triple threat at WM29? Instead, we're looking at Rock vs. Cena where it's guaranteed who will win and a potential Punk vs. Taker match with no internal story. It just seems crazy that with Mania seven weeks away, the card is still very much a work in progress. How will they fit everyone in? Where's the Orton heel turn, by the way, to feud with Sheamus? Why didn't Kane and Bryan drop the titles to Rhodes Scholars at the Rumble to begin their feud instead of rendering the tag division useless...again? How about the IC Champ? Here's an NXT rookie to put over. U.S. Champ? Here's an irritating babyface to put over. World Champ? Here's a racist heel to put over. As for Ziggler continuing to lose - they might as well let everyone kick out of his finishers and signature moves. Oh no, wait...only John Cena can do that.
